UNLV Fall 2019

Published

Hello! Thought I would start a conversation with pre-nursing students applying for UNLV BSN Program for Fall 2019 Cohort. Do you mind sharing your experiences in your pre-requisite classes and your stats? What preparations are you doing to apply? Any experiences with counselors that advised you what the cutoff score might be? Looking forward!

@michelle30, woah that’s crazy! I’m so sorry. They are pretty strict about the point system and it seems wrong to get 94 as told by them and not get in. Did they tell you what the cutoff score was? I’ve been bugging them with a lot of questions, everyone is so friendly. You should keep in touch until you don’t have confusion anymore

@nurseb00 I'm not sure if they calculated my score wrong, but I clarified that it was my calculation points and not where I placed and she confirmed that it was my points at 94. I asked about the cutoff and she said she could not tell me. She only told me that I placed at 95th, which is bizarre to me with what you guys have discussed here. I'll call them again later to clarify.

@michelle30, oh man. Yeah. We can only speculate for so long. I hope you get clarification from them sooner than later. Keep your head up ??

I must have calculated mine wrong than because when I added up my points I got 93.5 but I got in so it must have been more than that.

I called them back to clarify, so I think the miscalculation was in the attempt points section. It should be a total of 18 not 15, because chem 108 should be counted. So @Jessica Colwell you must've gotten a 96.5.

@michelle30, ahh that makes sense now. I'm sure you will apply again in the Spring. Good luck and hope to see you around the campus!

Thanks for that information. I recalculated it with that information and it shows 96.88. I'm sorry that you didnt get in. I think less people apply for spring semester so you should have good numbers to apply then.

I don't think they calculate Chem 108 in the attempts section. Something is not right.

(As of what I was told) They do calculate Chem 108, even tho its not on the worksheet. They need to update that. She went over my points in each category, and said that the attempt points is 18 points total (including chem). I guess that's why all of our calculations were 3 points lower. Maybe the total should even be 104 instead of 101. I agree tho, I was a little skeptical with the whole thing.

Hey Michelle,

I double checked and Chem 108 is not counted in the attempts because it does not require you to achieve a B or higher within two attempts. I am 100% sure it does not get counted in the attempts section which is why it is not listed. May I ask what your scores were @Jessica Colwell @michelle30

@NurseBoo calculated your points correctly. I got the same answer.
