UNLV Fall 2019

Published

Hello! Thought I would start a conversation with pre-nursing students applying for UNLV BSN Program for Fall 2019 Cohort. Do you mind sharing your experiences in your pre-requisite classes and your stats? What preparations are you doing to apply? Any experiences with counselors that advised you what the cutoff score might be? Looking forward!

Hi. (Had to make a new account)

can I ask where you double checked that? Because I know on the calculation worksheet Chem 108 isn’t listed, but someone from the School of Nursing specifically told me that it was counted. (Which is crazy and they should inform all of us) Unless you double checked with the SON? Then in that case, they’ve told us different things. She said no one with 93s got in. So i think if Jessica doesn’t mind calling them, they would probably tell her she got a higher score. Although, you don’t have to do that.

Hey y’all! I was thinking about reapplying for the spring. I was hoping you guys wouldn’t mind helping me calculate my points.

CHEM 108: A, one attempt

MATH 181: B, one attempt

BIOL 223: A, one attempt

BIOL 224: A, one attempt

NURS 299: A, two attempts

BIOL 251: A, two attempts

HESI: 93.5% overall

individual scores: 92, 92, 92, 98

Any feedback would help. Thank you.

Also, no rebel recognition points.

Do any of you guys have an advice for Nurs 299? How did you guys get an A? what does the class entail, and how did you guys study for it? I am going to take it this semester.

Hi! I just finished NURS 299 during my summer session with an A. I was super nervous about it before too! But, it ended up being challenging without feeling impossible.

They recently changed a few things in the class so it may seem different to others who have taken it before this summer semester.

The class is completely online. It consists of one introduction post, a syllabus quiz, and five exams. That's it. The lowest exam grade is dropped. The exams must be taken on a special browser called Respondus Lockdown Browser -- that browser only lets you have one tab opened at a time. That way they know you are answering the questions from memory, and not just looking them up.

As long as you follow the directions of each module, watch the videos, do the readings, you should be okay. I think the exam questions are NCLEX style, so they are a bit tricky. It seems like the professors really want you to be successful in the course though. I think I ended up dedicating about an hour each day to the class, excluding weekends. Let me know if you have any other questions!

The nursing Academic Advisor told me. @Michele_30
