Hello, I just finished the interview for the Feb 21 cohort and wanted to connect with other applicants. I live in Bend, Oregon, anyone else out there?

Adam and Katie- congratulations!! I wish I could be joining you this cohort. Unfortunately, I didn’t make the cut. I did get a phone call from the school (which was super nice) saying that with covid, Oregon hospitals were only taking local school applicants and current employees. So right now my focus is trying to find work for a hospital here in Portland that Oshkosh has affiliations with in hopes to get into Mays cohort. Curiously, do you both work for hospitals? And again, my sincerest congrats! Hopefully I’ll get in in a later cohort and good luck this year! Give em hell!
Sorry to hear, Courtney! I wish you luck with the next round! I do work as a CNA part time at one of my local hospitals on the postpartum unit or float when needed. I’ve heard hospital experience is very beneficial for once we start clinicals so if you can get into one I think it will help! Good luck! -Katie

Hi Courtney, sorry that you didn't get in, but at least you know why.. yes I work at a local hospital. If you get a job as a CNA I'm sure you will get in come May!
Katie- I'll see you in late May!
best,

How is the program going for you guys so far?
I applied to the may cohort and have heard it is pretty tough.
Still debating if to completely forgo all unemployment or just keep one shift since I have read from other conversations that some people keep employment.
Hey, we are only into the 2nd week of the full speed Accel part. So far so good. It seemed like a lot of info right off the bat but it’s manageable (so far!). I’m still employed “on call” but only plan to pick up overnights or Sat/Sun day shifts. I don’t plan to pick up many. I think it’d be hard to work a day shift on a weekday since there’s daily posts due and chapters to review but some might be doing that. I know others are still employed currently too beyond just on call.
Glad is going great for you! I had not thought of on call work. That might be a good option for me.

Just jumping on here to say that even though I didn't get in for Feb 2021, I got into May 2021! Any tips for getting geared up since you guys have gotten going?
Congratulations! I’m from Oregon too but still couldn’t get placed for clinicals. May I ask, do u work at a hospital? What part of Oregon are u from?
Thank you! I live in Northeastern Oregon. I actually don't work at a hospital but I do work at a local doctor's office and did some of the footwork for establishing a clinical relationship at the hospital myself. Sorry to hear you didn't get it this go around. Keep trying, I'm sure you're on their radar and covid is limiting your opportunities. Were you ever able to get hospital employment? From my experience I got the sense that is the top thing getting people their clinicals and thus a slot in each cohort.

Any updates on how the program is going will be greatly appreciated. Have you been able to work part-time?
