University of West Florida (UWF) FNP Spring 2025

Published

Hello Anyone! I am currently awaiting acceptance into the UWF FNP Spring 2025 Cohort. Is there anyone else a sitting duck with me? I am beyond nervous but also excited to get this journey started. A little about me: I live in the Pensacola area and currently work as a full-time M-F Clinical RN. I spent my first years as an RN working PCU and Covid Pts. I dabbled a bit of time as a Circulator in the OR and now work in Oncology. Good Luck to anyone else waiting with me.

Hi,  just got in but now I don't know what to do. I was accepted at Arkansas, Ala and WFlorida. Trying to weigh all the pro and cons of each. Florida took so long. Really didn't think I'd get it there. Trying to decide based on course work, tuition and faculty assistance. Getting mixed reviews everywhere. Any thoughts? Guess I'll flip a coin. 30yrs experience. Had to withdraw years ago from Ala due to an accident never went back but can't stop dreaming about. Good luck everyone!

I'm sorry to hear some of you didn't get in.  😔. I was hoping to have you all as my classmates!  You've all been so helpful and fun to chat with.  😊

For those that are curious about experience I will post mine for reference.  I've been an active duty Navy nurse for 8 years, but have been in the Navy for 25 years.  I've worked primarily Med Surg and PACU as a bedside nurse and more recently held leadership roles as a Nurse Manager, Chief Nursing Officer, and Officer in Charge of a clinic.  I've also been the hospital's Infection Preventionist and Joint Commission Lead and I deployed during COVID to a civilian hospital for relief.

I'm not sure what exactly they were looking for but hopefully this helps those curious about experience.

Congrats! I didn't get accepted but it's all good.  I'm going to keep pushing forward with other schools.

I didn't get in either. I will try again for Summer but also looking at other options. Congrats Lillian.

I didn't get accepted but everything happens for a reason! Congrats to everyone who got in!

I didn't get accepted either but I did start looking at other schools and the University of St Augustine is another online program with a 3day intensive before clinical semester starts. I spoke to an advisor just now and there is still a chance for the January start date.

I didn't get in either. Maria I was thinking about University of St Augustine too I have a recruiter meeting Friday. What did you think?

Hi everyone!! I didn't get in UWF. So sad because I do have 8 years of experience a lot being charge/management roles! But that's OK I was accepted into another school that's in person and choose preceptors!! 🙂

It seems pretty similar to UWF the only differences I would say are tuition costs and the in person intensive before clinicals which I think is a good idea. Tuition is about $50k for the whole program including the costs of books. Their FNP program is fairly new with the first cohort being in 2016 but they had a few other graduate programs for health sciences long before that. I researched it a lot today and reviews for the schools online programs are pretty good. They seem flexible allowing accelerated and decelerated pathways to ensure it's individualized to every persons needs which I thought was cool.

Thank you and good luck all!  I wish you all the best!  😊

I just came across this thread and had to suffer for weeks alone of waiting! Haha.

I got accepted for Spring 2025. I live in Ft Myers area and would love to know if anyone from SW Florida got in!

For those curious and future applicants, I have 3.5 years experience as a nurse as well as 1 experience as a CNA. Most of my experience is in cardiac PCU but most recently made a switch to pediatrics. Before being in a clinical position I worked in an orthopedic doctor office doing insurance verification and receptionist. And before that I worked in an OBGYN office doing medical receptionist. I've worked most of the past 10 years in some type of medical setting.

My overall GPA was maybe 3.5 but GPA based on my nursing classes was probably a 3.8-3.9. I'm also a Florida resident and got my ADN and BSN from a local Florida college!

Hey All! Hope those of you that got into Spring are having a great start! I am sure your all going to do great. I applied for Summer 2025 and I am awaiting acceptance from another program now. How about anyone else who ended up sitting Spring out from UWF? How are yall doing?

Haha although we didn't get accepted together, I do miss the support that we had in this thread. Fast forward a few months, I ended up starting in another FNP program in Florida from one of my backup schools. I started this week and I'm mentally trying to prepare for the rest of the year. Good luck to you and I hope all goes well in your program! I'm sure your acceptance letter is coming soon!🥳

I will be applying to Summer 2025 and hope to get in the second time around 🤞🏽

Hi everyone, I am looking into UWF and came across this thread. Can anyone please tell me about their clinical placement assistance (if any) and if they require or have an immersion weekend like other schools do?  Also, is the FNP program only full-time? Thanks in advance!

For clinicals they have a list of contracted facilities. Go thru the list and call them and visit sites yourself. That's what I did. Or Google pcp in your area and talk to them to sign a new contract with uwf. New contracts take monthssss to process tho.
