University of West Florida (UWF) FNP - Spring 2025

Published

Hello Anyone! I am currently awaiting acceptance into the UWF FNP Spring 2025 Cohort. Is there anyone else a sitting duck with me? I am beyond nervous but also excited to get this journey started. A little about me: I live in the Pensacola area and currently work as a full-time M-F Clinical RN. I spent my first years as an RN working PCU and Covid Pts. I dabbled a bit of time as a Circulator in the OR and now work in Oncology. Good Luck to anyone else waiting with me.

My poor husband just listened to me vent for 20 minutes about if it's a good thing or a bad thing LOL. I said do they weed out the No first? or do the yes people get a decided and somewhere someone got a not accepted? I said this is cruel LOL I am both anxious, excited and sad all at the same time. #canwesayanxiety

I went back to look at the trends from last springs allnurses forum. It looks like some said decided while others said awaiting decision and both of those posters got accepted in the end.

Thanks for doing that research! I hope we all get in. Then we can start a Facebook page to keep on touch and help eachother through this journey

Congrats! I didn't get accepted but it's all good.  I'm going to keep pushing forward with other schools.

I didn't get accepted but everything happens for a reason! Congrats to everyone who got in!

I didn't get accepted either but I did start looking at other schools and the University of St Augustine is another online program with a 3day intensive before clinical semester starts. I spoke to an advisor just now and there is still a chance for the January start date.

Congrats to those that have gotten accepted. Curious on the expereince gap between those that were excepted and those that were denied.  Reputable schools are going to be more rigorous with years of experience.  You are not prepared to be an NP with under 5 years of experience. Where you are getting that experience matters also.  NP's are getting a really bad rap because of lack of experience and making the profession as a whole look really bad.  From current cohorts this program is very much self taught.  If you don't have a basic understanding of differential diagnosis and tests to confirm or rule out those diagnosis you will not be successful.  That comes with time and years of experience.  If you cant anticipate what the doctor is going to order before they order it these online programs are not for you.

Congratulations on those who got accepted. I unfortunately was not one of them. 😓 I do not know the amount of people accepted and how many applications they received but I am trying not to be too discouraged. I may look into other universities, I may take this time to figure out what I need more
