University of Toronto (U of T) Lawrence Bloomberg Faculty of Nursing NP 2021

Updated:   Published

Hi everyone!

I have applied to the NP Program at U of T Bloomberg for 2021, paediatric specialty. My file currently says "under review" and all my documents are received. I'm wondering if anyone has received an offer of admission yet? How long did it take to hear of a decision once you were under review? Thanks!!

Even if we do hear, it will just state “decision made” and we will have to wait for a letter in the mail to see if we are accepted or rejected right?

Apparently we don't get a hard copy anymore. Only electronic sadly. Unless they change it this year.

Also, Ryerson sent out their letters today, did anyone apply to RU for their NP Program?

I heard from Ryerson last week on Thursday. My confirmation date is April 2nd so really waiting on U of T to make a decision. When do you need to confirm by?

I also heard from York but will be declining the offer.

Wow that is great, if you got into 2 NP schools already, I am sure you will get into U of T too! I hope next week soon, before April starts to get our letter.

That's very kind, thank-you.

Is your preference U of T over Ryerson? If so why? I'm curious about people's thoughts also a school part of the consortium vs stand-alone like U of T.

I actually only applied to U of T for their PMNP Adult Stream, so it’s either that or nothing. I work in the ICU and would love to continue on that path.

I think the advantage of it not being a part of Consortium is that U of T has their freedom to tweak their program/curriculum without waiting for other schools to agree on it. They may be more advanced in terms of their evidence-based information.

If you don't hear from U of T by April 2, would you accept RU?

Ahh, this makes sense! That makes sense and I can imagine the Adult stream would be perfect for you!

This is my thought... also the completely online aspect and not being synchronous would making balancing a small line easier I'd think.

My hope is U of T as I'm relocating to Toronto and am having to sort out logistics in my current home, so being able to be 100% distance as U of T supports (minus the onsite residencies) would be best for me. Plus the reputation, and everything you mentioned. I might just accept Ryerson if I haven't heard, and if I get into U of T take the loss on the deposit I'll have to pay... I tried to email U of T to discuss my quandary but it was not successful sadly.

I agree with you, the reputation of the school is a big deal. Not to say the consortium schools are not great, because I am sure they are. It’s all about preferences right?

I emailed admissions 3 weeks ago and Kate told me it will be end of March, so I am really hoping to hear back by Monday at least. Who did you email?

It was Kate! I was hoping the lack of reply was because they were busy emailing admission offers ?
