I just registered for this course. Is is just a lot of memorization? Is it a time consuming class? I will be taking it with health promotions. I looked at the online book store and their is a book packet that is required. What's in the packet?

Thanks a lot for the info

Hello, I'm starting this course Jan 21. I got an email from our instructor about logging in and registering for the course. I signed up though Pearson, but I can't "join the class" as instructed in the power point. I installed Firefox as recommended, but no luck. Can't get to the "join the class" tab. Any one else having this problem? Or any recommendations? I called Pearson (as instructed in announcements), and they said they would email me me help but didn't. Frustrated! 20 minute hold time! Thanks for the vent!

Hi, I posted earlier today about being unable to "join" the class on Pearson's website. I finally worked it out with a Pearson cust svc rep. It's an interactive game type of scenario. I need to see how important it is to the class grade because I think I can learn better (in less time) reading the book.

If anyone else is starting on Jan 21, all the course info is up on Blackboard if you want to get started.

I'm hoping I can sign up after someone misses the payment deadline on the 18th, with a class of 200 students somebody is bound to make the mistake. Anybody know if this is possible, I have a pending email out to my advisor at the moment.

Hey I just finished Med Term in December. The interactive gaming stuff is worth 4% of your grade. As you do the activities you get grades for them. The teacher takes your cumulative grade for the interactive activities, and multiplies thus giving you the full 4% or what not.

Honestly, the tests are pretty brutal only because of the time constraint. The questions are totally doable but 50questions in 30mins is no joke. But you can definitely pull off an A in this course.

I called to try to get into this class today as there was a seat that opened up for non-payment. However, Nicole in the regstrar's office said that with the academic partnership classes you had to be signed up a week before class starts and even if people get dropped for non-payment their is no way to get put inot the class.

The March class is already full as well. Not what I wanted to hear.

Doesn't look this class is going to be available unitl summer.

Can you work ahead in this class?

How was this class for you on a scale of 1-10 in stress level?

Thanks

Omowa

You can work ahead, you just can't take the test ahead of time. I was really stressed about this class until I took the first test. The test are pretty easy you just have to move fast cuz the test is timed. I thought it was a very straight forward class. I would now rate it a very low level stress class.

Hello all!

I just found this forum, thankfully! I will be starting medical terminology in the summer along with older adults.. Have any of you taken that class? If so, do you think it is doable to double up??

Also, I read on here that we have ONE day to take the tests versus them being open for a couple of days. Can anyone tell me what day of the week this is? I am trying to figure out because if it is on saturdays I won't be possible to take this because of my schedule that day :/

Thanks I'm advance!!!

Hello RN_ATX

I am currently in Medical Terminology right now. Basically there are 4 unit exams each two weeks apart. We have had three of the exams on Mondays and one is on a Friday. Each unit exam covers about 4-5 chapters in the book. You will have 50 questions to answer in 30 minutes. These exams grades are worth 96% of your final grade. The other 4% of your grade comes from the MTIs which is a computer "hospital" in which you do 4 different activities per chapter. These activities are all pretty easy but can be time consuming. So to sum this up, you will just study 4-5 chapters every two weeks, do the MTIs and take the exams. I think it is totally doable with another class.

I'm taking it now with leadership and health promotion so it's totally doable. I did not buy the book either, the access code will give to info you can use to study for the exams. The exam are open midnight on Sunday and close midnight on Monday...there are only four exam that makes up 96% of your grade, so don't take them lightly. If you don't study the material you will fail, you have 30min to take 50 questions. Good luck.
