University of Southern California FNP Program

Has anyone else applied to USC's FNP program for Fall 2018? I am still waiting to hear if I have been accepted, but wanted to get other's thoughts on the program's lack of accreditation. How will this affect boards and obtaining a NP position after graduating? They state that they have applied for their CCNE accreditation, but this does not guarantee they will receive it.

I have applied as well, hoping for September 2018 cohort, but realistically, January 2019. Very strange though, the admissions coordinator told me that they have extended the deadline for applicants until July 9th. Did they not fill the cohort? Does anyone know what the acceptance rate for this program? FNP is super competitive so I'm wondering if anyone knew. The bridge course if not covered by financial aid as well from what I heard. Isn't this part of the program - or is it more you pass then you start the program, more like a weeding out process??

If you pass the bridge you are able to move forward by starting the program. Some people require the bridge, and some do not. Some people voluntarily take the bridge, because it helps as a refresher.

They told me originally 5-6 weeks for a response, but I think it only took 3 weeks for the acceptance email to come. After the email, someone called to ask about my decision.

I was accepted to USC's FNP program in May and start the bridge program in August. I was accepted into a couple other programs but ultimately chose USC because I was so impressed with the program. Someone has called me and checked in with me every step of the way, from the application process until now. There have been lots of informative webinars and I feel as though they really want you to succeed. No, the bridge program is not covered by financial aid but I am thankful they do a bridge course, as I've heard it really helps prepare you for the program. I live across the country so I don't have access to anything the campus offers, but I will meet you all at the OCIs! Congratulations to everyone!

Congrats on the acceptance. I submitted my application just before the deadline...didn't even realize USC had a program so I applied. I hope to hear good news.

good luck! It took about 3 weeks to hear from them and I was impressed that they called me to give me the good news. My advisor seemed just as excited as I was.

How are yall liking the program?? I'm waiting to hear if I get in for the fall. ?

program is good. It is a lot of expectations and challenges, but it is doable if you put focus into it. Overall, I am gaining the knowledge I need

Anyone here by chance in Alaska? I was told another student is in my same town but they couldn't give me details obviously. For being such a big state the fact there is another student here was exciting to here. I'm hoping to find them and connect. :-)

Hi everyone,

I’m new in this thread. I live in Florida but used to live in SoCal. Planning to apply to the FNP program but my biggest concern is my GPA. Do you think they’ll accept a less than 3.0 GPA?

Never hurts to try and apply. Who cares what requirements say, just contact the school and ask them or just apply and see what happens. 3.0 sounds reasonable to me
