Hello,
I have applied to USA's online Psychiatric NP program for Spring 2015. I just wanted to hear from anyone else who has and what their GPA/experience/ ect they have. My GPA is low, but I feel like I have a lot of experience. Any current or former students have any insight as to how many they accept with a lower GPA if any? Does experience really count for anything? Also, has anyone who applied for the Spring 2015 semester heard from USA about their application being complete? Any info would be great, and just to hear from people who are also waiting to hear back.
Thanks
Hello All!
I applied for the Spring 2015 DNP program (Emergency NP) and am anxiously waiting to hear from USA. As a few of you have mentioned, USA has always been late to send out letters- hoping that it's not the case this time. Has anyone heard anything about a time frame for this year (besides the generically stated 6-8 weeks)?
Does anyone know when that on-campus clinical orientation is? I'm planning my wedding and, long story short, need to figure out when we're taking our honeymoon pretty soon in order to use some plane tickets that were gifted to us. I need to plan around the orientation just in case I get in.
Hi students. I am a current Psych NP student at South Alabama. I am a Post-Masters student and will graduate this December, 2014. The program is somewhat difficult as there is minimal instructor feedback. You will feel confused initially, however, you will get the hang of it. A problem that I currently have in the program is that after an exam, there is not feedback. The instructors will NOT let you know what you got right or wrong, therefore, you may have a bad grade and not know how to fix it before the final. Also, there are not a lot of psych NP's, therefore, it may be quite difficult to find preceptors. Overall, it is a great program for the price. If I can do it, you Definitely can do it. BTW, my GPA was a 3.0 and I had one year of psych experience. Good Luck you all.

I just started at USA this fall. For us, the initial orientation was done as an online webinar. We had modules to complete in the couple weeks before class started, with videos to watch and some quizzes to take. And then we got the invite to the webinar, which was the Thursday of the first week of class. It was mandatory and we had to be sitting in front of our computers that day to participate. I think that's a fairly new thing they did to eliminate one of the trips to Alabama. For me, I don't start clinicals until Fall 2015... So I will have to go up there for clinical orientation right before then, but I'm not sure of the dates yet.
According to the schedule online for your program, do you start clinicals the first semester? If not, I imagine you will not have to go to Alabama until around that time. Hope that helps.

Looking back through previous years posts about acceptance letters, it looks like it will be after the deadline they gave. I would be pleasantly surprised if they got back with us in 6-8 weeks. 8 weeks is on 9-26. I can hardly wait!
