I just wanted to start a new thread for the MSN applicant pool for the University of South Alabama. The previous thread was for BSN to DNP applicants. I know there are many different MSN programs at USA but you take many of the same core courses. So I figured we could all share what program we applied to, what part of the country we are from, and if and when we get decision letters.

Guest to allnurses feel free to make an account and post as well, I know there are many of you checking/waiting as well.

Me either Tony55!

I am not sure what to do. Are you going to reapply? I graduated from the BSN program in 1999. I think my grades being so old is hurting me. I had 3.45 in the nursing courses, but my cum gpa is 2.75 but when they calculated they got 2.70.

I have applied to two other schools and have my fingers crossed for those. I don't think I am going to reapply. I am not sure what in the world happened to me. I have a 4.0 in my BSN program and only made 2 Bs in nursing school. Graduated with a 3.8 from my ADN and have a 4.0 in science courses. I made As in everything from A&P to Chemistry. I believe my 3.1 GPA from my previous BA hurt me. crazy as that sounds. NursingCAS lowered my GPA from my BA. They gave for instance 3.3 for a B+ my school gave 3.5. This lowered my BA as reported to USA to a 2.9 and my overall to a 3.4. My overall according to my calculations is actually a 3.6. IDK. I also am not 100% sure I enclosed a resume with my application. I filled my app out in a hurry and sent 4 emails to ensure it was complete. I never received the "your app is complete" email. After 4 attempts i received an email telling me they sent me one in July and told me to check spam. I did. Still no email. I emailed to tell them i never received an email stating my app was complete, not even in spam. No response. Meanwhile, the other two schools I have applied to have not only emailed me regarding missing pieces to my apps but also called me. I stand a better chance getting accepted into the school I am currently attending I believe because they can see my potential and I know the instructors personally. I feel like the USA application process was very impersonal and very disorganized. From my perspective. I am sure it was not that way for everyone. Tony, if I were you, I would apply to UAB. They also waive the GRE for high GPA and they look at your last 60 credit hours. I feel this is a much more fair process. I mean, I have a BA in corporate communication and made a C in macroeconomics. How does the admissions committee know those I was up against, if they had taken that course would have scored better than me?!?! To be judged for NP school I believe only science and nursing classes should apply. You are better off applying to those who look at last 60 hours. 3.45 is a great GPA! I graduated with my BA in 2000.

FA2NS,

Sounds like all your stats are better than mine. I beleive my grades being so old is hurting me. I think I will apply at the U of Phoenix. They are accredited. They do not offer the FNP in my area, but if I get the MSN, then I can apply somewhere else for the post- MSN certification. I am not going to let a few rejection letters stop me.

Good luck.

PS Let me know ( if you have time) when you get accepted.

Hi, FA2NS and borntowearscrubsRN-

I applied at UOP today. The process is much friendlier than the last three schools. I cannot get my FNP with them, but I can get started on my MSN. I am excited to finally be doing something besides waiting. Good luck. I should start in January as long as I get my transcripts in on time. I will pray for us all, and God will guide us in the right direction.

I got into the Advanced Emergency NP program for Spring 2014 and I can't wait!

Happy for you Tony 55! I spoke to a rep in admissions at my current school and was told I should have no problems being accepted into the FNP program. I hope he is right. Fingers crossed.

Has anyone gotten their Jag number yet for Spring 2014? Everything is sent in and complete but I still don't have my student email or id.

Soonergirl- I haven't gotten in and I'm wondering how we are supposed to find these modules we have to do and test on prior to Jan 16th webinar??? The message they sent from the dean says they have due dates but I can't find them anywhere.
