University of South Alabama FNP Spring 2017

Has anyone else applied to this program/start date?

Do you anticipate getting accepted or why not?

Where else did you apply or get accepted into?

Specializes in ICU, PCU.

Update: I didn't get in! I don't know why as I met all the requirements .. maybe they didn't like my essay! I applied for the FNP program. I probably won't apply there again. I'm going to take the GRE and apply to USM NP program (my alma mater). Good luck to everyone!

I was accepted for the Spring 2017 cohort in the dual role NP. Any others doing this track?

Please keep me posted on how you like the program. I'm applying for the Fall 2017 dual role NP. I would love to hear feedback from those in the dual role cohort.

Best of luck :D

Just curious.... Has anyone received the acceptance letter from the office of admissions containing the student ID# and email info yet?

Congrats to everyone who was accepted!

I was also accepted for Spring 2017 BSN-DNP.

I have been reading up on the technology requirements for the program and it seems as if the program does not support Macs or Apple software.

I definitely just bought a very expensive Macbook so I am a little worried.

Does anyone have any information on this???

I am graduating this December 9 in the AGACNP track at USA. I used the Macbook the whole time and had no issues. I know that others did, but their issue occurred when they upgraded their iOS to Yosemite. I haven't upgraded mine yet.

Good luck!

Thanks for the info on Macbooks. If you don't mind sharing, what were your thoughts on the program? Workload? Relevance of what you learned? Tons of paper writing throughout the entire curriculum? Thanks!

Hi Mike, I thought the program was very do-able. I started out in the dual FNP/AGACNP program and then switched to just the AGACNP as I didn't want to do peds or OB.

The workload hasn't been bad. I was able to work full time up until this last summer when I had 180 hours of clinicals to complete in 8 weeks. They have since changed the hours around for the better starting with this next year. Each writing class has 3-4 papers plus a few discussion board posts. It is what you make it. This program is best for a self-starter. I put a lot of time into studying and learning and obtained a network of good preceptors and specialists to help. I think that has been the key to my success.

Thanks so much for this information. I actually have no idea what Yosemite is, I am new to the Mac world. My Macbook is fairly new but hopefully it is not preprogrammed with Yosemite because I would hate to have to purchase another computer.

Also, I appreciate your feedback on the program. How many classes did you typically take per semester while working full time?

I am worried about overload.
