Is anyone applying to USA for fall 2014.

This wait is getting so old, I don't even know what to think about this school. I don't understand why they have to keep doing this every semester, why can't they pick a time and stick to I? Makes me wonder if this is how it would be with instructors.???

Vidash 1,

from what I know the instructors are great. I am sure if you did not have the confidence in this school you would not have sought an admission with USA in the first place. Please do not lose your patience, just few more days. The school is facing unecessary restraints from a number of other States in their efforts in promoting education to all of us. The school is trying to do the right thing to every individual like you and I. I like to see an up beat note from you when you are finally accepted.

Have a great weekend!

I know this is frustrating, but welcome to the weird, wacky world of online grad school. Most people find it very different from what they experienced in an actual classroom. The relationship between student and faculty is almost nonexistent, so don't be surprised that Admissions follows the same pattern of apparent indifference. In my experience there was very little interaction between faculty and students, and the expectation was that you would educate yourself. Typically, you get a syllabus, a list of textbooks to buy and an online login ID, then follow directions for assignments, quizzes, exams, papers, etc. Communication is generally limited to emails and discussion boards. I've taken a number of courses where I NEVER had occasion to speak "live", in real time, with faculty, and I couldn't have picked my "professor" out of a police lineup if my life depended on it. In some of those courses the faculty could actually have died or retired years earlier and I would never have known it. During one summer session, my Advanced Biostatistics professor was out of the country. Tests were graded by the computer, and any questions were answered by email with a graduate assistant. And all this was through a well-known "bricks and mortar" university.

But don't take this as an indictment of online education. If you are self-directed and disciplined you will learn a lot, and for some people this approach works better than sitting in a classroom, regurgitating the material from the lectures on an exam. It's just different.

Just my $0.02. Your mileage may vary.

Dear Harrythecat,

Well said, I took my BSN online at home where the University was less than 10 minutes drive from my residence. I had the privilege of walking into my Professors office with appointments if necessary, most of whom lived in other counties except on office days at the University. Interstate online education is as real as it gets. Thank you for sharing your wisdom and humor.

Here's hoping we hear something this week!!!

This is it, first class mail between states takes 2-3 days, it will be there in the mail by Thursday. The longest week ever!

Hi all! I've been following these threads on USA for awhile but haven't posted before now. I applied to the Psych NP track (MSN) for Fall and have been anxiously waiting like the rest of you. It's the only school I applied to and a lot of other things in my life (my work schedule, my lease renewal, and whether or not I need to take the GRE and start working on apps for other schools for Spring) are all depending on this decision. So to say I'm eager to know either way is an understatement! I really hope we hear this week and that we all get good news, and that this long wait will have been well worth it.

By the way, for those that never got a response saying their application was complete... I didn't get one either and checked my junk box as well. After sending the school a couple e-mails a month or so back, I got a reply saying my application is complete and being reviewed by the applications committee. I was afraid that I had forgotten something! Anyway, if you never received one, I wouldn't worry because it doesn't seem to mean anything. It just seems they did not consistently send them out to all applicants.

Also, does anyone know what our chances are of getting into the condensed program if we get accepted and want to go that route? I know they mentioned it's based on space availability and consideration is given first to students in earlier terms. Is it decided based on who returns their admission packets quickest? Maybe a student already in the program can answer? I was hoping to do the condensed schedule if I get in.

Good luck to everyone!!!

I posted in another thread but just confirmed that letters were mailed out yesterday! Good luck all!
