University South Alabama BSN-DNP Program Fall 2015

Published

Hi just created this thread to see if anyone else applied for USA DNP program. I didn't see one created so I figured I would start it.

Well I guess that nice little email was fairly clear that the letters will be mailed today. So...another nervous weekend ahead.

So how does that work Tamtam - if they've already accepted you for one program and you get into another?

I applied to both - but I know you got in to the msn for the summer... what did they say to do?

That is an excellent question! I have been wondering the same thing. IF I get accepted to the DNP, I guess I will call the MSN academic advisor that I have been receiving emails from and ask his advice. I don't really expect that to happen, but I guess that's what I'll do if it does.

Since letters were mailed out on the first, here's hoping someone gets some good news today :)

Got my letter today. Denied again...*sigh*

I'm sorry klwilkerson. Do they give a reason?

The high number of applicants and the highly competitive nature of the program. I guess that's kinda what happens though when they go only on a resume and GPA.

I had to write a big letter of goals and purpose as well - it was like 5 pages long

I wouldn't take it to personally - the NP Programs have just recently exploded with applicants, and become very competitive. It will settle down. I think everyone is applying because they can't afford to work as a staff nurse anymore - hospitals are paying so poorly. I make a whole lot more working as a nurse coach - like 7 dollars more an hr ... on top of shift diff. Don't give up. Just keep on applying ... :)

I wrote the personal statement, too. I just think they may do better asking for letters of recommendation or nursing portfolio examples or something, especially for those that have a lower GPA

Oh, I'd never take anything like that personally. Not like they mailed me and flat said "You stink." My thing isn't the pay, but I'm trying to go back into the military as an APRN, and my clock is ticking :)

Letters of recommendation are a pain in the ass. Lol
