University of South Alabama BSN-DNP Fall 2014

Published

I applied for the Fall 2014 USA BSN-DNP Program. Any ideas on when we will find out if we were accepted? Anyone in the Mobile/Pensacola area also applying to the program? Any advice from past graduates for success?

Thanks!

How is everyone doing in the BSN-DNP program? I was thinking of applying to this program. Any advise or discouragement??

Thanks!

Hey! We had a lot of people graduate this year! One thing I liked about the program is that I didn't have to pay out of state tuition, and it was actually cheaper than my bsn program. There are a lot of speciality areas you can choose from. I loved my advisor, but I know some people didn't care at all for theirs in other areas of focus.

How has your job search been? And do you know the success rate of their program as far as pass rate for boards?

Everyone in the program who graduated with me has jobs and are very successful! I am really proud of them! Some people knew where they were going to be long before graduation date, and others (like me) were still looking because we waited until we graduated to do a job search. I have some offers that I am still considering, but I have not found my forever home yet, but that is for personal reasons - like I refuse to move towns at this point, and my city is limited for what my specialty is. I am considering the offer to teach full time (I do this part time now), and I have 2 other offers at my hospital right now. I am just praying which direction to take, because I honestly don't know which one I want!

Additionally, everyone in my program passed their boards on the first try. I am not sure if that is a testament to the school or more to the students who studied their butts off!

Hi guys...for those that just started the BSN-DNP dual FNP/ENP program - how is it going? I'm considering applying for the Fall 2015 semester :)

Hey Julie,

I just started the program this spring and I am already feeling so overwhelmed. I'm taking Patho and NU 608. Any tips for me? I'm working full time and I'm having a hard time finding time to study for patho and start this first discussion paper. Any tips? Congrats on graduating!

Thanks! The best advice I have is to find friends in your cohort that you can lean on through the entire program! My friends were the best asset I could have ever had. We even started a private FB group for our speciality, and I know there were other speciality closed groups as well. Additionally, there is a main DNP group on FB - here is the FB title page: USA DNP Program .

I was able to work 3 days a week as a nurse and still somehow made it through the program. I think the main thing is to find a way to be organized. Try not to look at the big picture once you have a game plan (looking at your big pic initially is a huge deal in organization though). Once you figure out what is due and when, you just take it one day at a time and do what you can each day. Set your deadlines a few days before something is due - that way if you have to resubmit something to turnitin, you will have time.

Also, TALK to your professor a LOT. Don't wait until the last minute to approach her with any difficulties you are having. As a professor, I know that this doesn't float! Come early, and often with your problems until we figure out a solution - is what I tell my students!

Best of luck! Let me know if I can help further!

Thank you! I am just having difficulty finding time to study for patho and work on NU 608 deadlines with a full time job. Any tips on studying for patho efficiently? Thank you!

Hi Blessedlab,

May I ask, how did you like to program and this ENA BSN-DNP track overall?

Thank you kindly,

Matt
