University of San Francisco Spring 2019 Applicants

Published

Hi everyone! I noticed there wasn't a forum yet for the Spring 2019 applicants that applied to the University of San Francisco. I'm hoping others can join as we come together to see if we made it! Recently I just checked my portal and it said that my decision has been sent in mail. I'm not sure if that's a good sign or not. Has anyone else had their "decision mail sent" status up on the portal yet? If so, let me know!

Man, that is awesome! I hope I hear something soon.

Another question, did you finish all the requirements for graduation already or just the co reqs?

What I want to know is if anyone got rejection letters from the Sacramento campus ... I received the same email, essentially saying that they are still reviewing applications and thanking us for being patient.

Just the same.. no letter. Im trying my best to be patient..

Alright s0 some answers -

lvb91 - thanks for the congratulations, i know exactly what you feel like waiting for an answer and the campus is swamped with new admissions figuring things out

mmd3112 - i finished all my pre-reqs back in 2015/2016 but had to take a leave for health reasons

As for my credits transferable, i brought 118 that satisfied a lot with exceptions to;

-sociology; not for the Nursing program, but necessary for NCLEX

-rhetoric and writing - USF specific

As far as advice or my situation, i feel like My academics were average, but life experience and essay were strong. My letter of recommendation was strong as well. keep in mind im older (not wiser) and most of the students I see at the programs are a little older

sbalexandra - someone i dont personally know but did see on the facebook group was sent a email "you have not been considered" or something similiar

As for anyone else on the fence, I REALLY hope you got your stuff together, under the prerequisites like Nursing - Health Requirements | myUSF

im rushing to take care of things

Sorry getting the hang of this forum/message i thought i responded earlier.

- prerequisites Nursing - i knocked out the equivalent of microbio, physio, organic chem, anatomy and its labs. 3.7

- prerequisites Bachelors Degree Art/Science - 118 credits for the rest of the curriculum standard for california UC system

- prerequisites - i took all of these and finished back in 2015/2016 but took a leave of absence

- what helped me most, was a strong life experience essay, and a strong letter of recommendation

Rejections; i don't know the person really well, but they sent me a screen shot that they were not offered a spot and that they would have a chance to reapply but that was last semester.

once again, i can not stress enough the SOHNP prerequisites like vaccines, CPR, back ground check and drug tests, i was lucky my V.A. doctor really helped me out last minute appointment and all my vaccines/shots.

Also, for those that did get accepted but can't log in or see anything, what helped me out was paying the tuition deposit and i was able to see more. Each day it populates with more icons/ portals that become available. Each step i submit paper work or pdfs a new portal opens up.

Just a heads up.

More importantly - if you don't get in the first time dont worry, this is my second attempt. Life has many paths and its not always straight and level.

Hey everyone! So I've been kind of lurking around on this thread and just made an account a few minutes ago. I also applied for the Spring 2019 semester at the SF campus. I received an email essentially saying my application was on hold; that was dec 7th. I'm trying to be patient but it's not working out so well lol. But congratulations to everyone that's been accepted. I just had a question for those that said they received the email saying that the admissions team is still reviewing apps, did you receive that recently? I'm not sure if a second email was sent out but I haven't received it if it was.

@AD_katherine ,

Me too!! I got the same email which makes me nervous because it's not a yes or a no! :/ The wait is killing me! Did you call the school & ask them what "hold" means by any chance? I wonder how many students they send that email too. I can't figure out if we are second round or not. :/

Also,

Did you apply to Dominican University at all?

Hey AD_Catherine,

I received the email saying they were still actively reviewing applicants and they hadn't made first round decisions yet. But, this was specifically for the applicants who applied to the Sacramento Campus as it had the Sacramento nursing program stated in the letter. Hope this helps and wishing you good luck :)!

I didnt call but I did email and didn't get a response. I figured that was code for just be patient lol. I didn't apply to Dominican university but I did apply to a few of the state schools. I got into the schools but not to the program. I honestly feel like USF looks holistically at the Applicant vs just the stats (like state schools). I applied University of the Pacific as a Biology Major and got in. I just haven't decided because I'm waiting to hear back from USF. I'm kind of at the point of deciding to switch majors or at least seek nursing as a second major or try my hand at Masters entry MSN programs.

@lvb91 thank you, that does help. And good luck to you as well

@AD_catherine,

That makes me scared to call, but it would be nice to know how close we are on the waiting list. I applied to USF because they look holistically at our applications but I don't know anymore. I've also considered changing my major. It's almost been two weeks so hopefully we get an email in a couple days. Who knows! Maybe they will have room!
