University of San Francisco ME-MSN, Spring 2020

Updated:   Published

Hey everyone, I don't think that there is a thread up yet for folks who are applying for Spring 2020 entry, so I figured I'd start us off! I think it can be helpful to be in connect with other students applying so we can update each other, discuss, and await our decisions!

For the OC campus...

I looked back in the USF ME-MSN Spring 2019 thread:

and I found that the OC campus started sending out status updates (waitlists and acceptances) as of November 2, 2018. If this trend continues for this year, then we OC applicants could be receiving notices soon.

I’ve also noticed that they give out notices on a Friday? ? So, maybe we’ll hear back from the school end of this week. Good luck to all applicants and congrats to those who got accepted at the SF campus.

Thank you so much! I had a 3.6 overall for undergrad. I got a few C's in some science courses and I retook them at Community College and got A's. I think this definitely helped me be more competitive. I volunteered at a couple hospitals during undergrad and also did a medical study abroad/ internship in Mexico. I also worked as a student advisor for my major. I later became an EMT after graduating from college. I think no matter what your grades, you can always always retake something so don't be discouraged. And any experiences just working with people I think are super helpful, doesn't necessarily have to be with patients. I hope that helps. I think just showing your commitment and dedication are a big part of it.

Echoing sentiments here, I struggled with undergrad sciences (graduated in 2013) and retook classes and all pre-reqs at community college in the past year and a half.

I volunteer in my community, have my EMT-B, and my professional career thus far has been in social justice.

Some broad advice re: personal statement, for mine I focused on how my life experiences have led me to believe that nursing is a fit for me in terms of serving my community.

Hope this helps!

Waitlisted - SF . I received an email on 11/01/19.

Just out of curiousity, does it tell you your waitlist position? Or it just says waitlisted?

wishing you the best & sending positive vibes ?

Hey @Venegasia, Thank You, I need it! ?

We write to inform you that you have been placed on the waitlist for the MSN 29 cohort at the San Francisco - Main campus.

Hello everyone,

I just received acceptance from SFSU ELM-A, so I will be declining my spot on this year's cohort. Good luck to you all!

SFSU is my alma mater. I got my Biochem degree there a few years ago. The main reason, however, is the culture of community engagement and social activism at the campus. They have a student organization with many opportunities to reach out to underserved communities, including the one I grew up in.

Will anyone here be working part-time with kids? Or is it just me lol?
