University of San Francisco Fall 2015 BSN Program

Published

Hello everyone!

I created this thread for anyone who applied/applying/got accepted to USF BSN or program. If anyone has any insight, words of wisdom, or anything else that might be useful, it would be much appreciated. Here is a little info about myself to kick this off...

I am currently living in the SF bay area and Im finishing off a few courses before I transfer to a 4 year college next semester. I applied for USF's BSN fall 15 program and here are some of my STATS:

*Academics: I have a 3.8 in my prereqs and a 3.5 (overall) GPA.

*Experience/Volunteer Work: I am a Army veteran with 8 years of experience in health care. ( I have worked in the ICU & ER, at Brooke Army Medical Center for about 6 months. Went on several humanitarian missions which consisted of providing medical aid to rural communities in developing countries. I've also done a tour in Afghanistan, working in a combat support hospital.)

* Personal statement: Writing has never been my strong suit... :-/.. but I wrote it in story format (based on my deployment) and how the values of the military compliment USF's core values.

*Letter of Recommendation: My human anatomy instructor (PhD)

Lastly, I'll keep everyone posted on my application status if any future students want to use this thread as a point of reference.

(I submitted my application yesterday 1/15/15)

Good luck to everyone!!

Yeah some days I don't even check the mailbox...other days I speed walk towards it.

I literally lost all hope. Then when I emailed and got the email back that no nursing transfers know yet I feel better. I think we just have to be really patient and think positives. We will make ourselves sick over it if we don't.

Hey Yea I applied for a transfer nothing today

Hey I wanted to ask you all about certain requisites for this program. Have all of you taken up sociology, public speaking before submitting the application?

Brianna have you applied before? I feel like I've seen you on a post before haha. This is my second time applying? appy I did. I've done like everything besides what is required to be a nurse and those specific classes you have to take there. I don't think it matters though. Have you?

I don't know if its imp to finish those other subjects which are not the main pre requisites. I haven't done sociology.

Yeah it's fine! I think they just want the main ones.

Last year most of the nursing transfers have got their decision in the second week of march. check this out. Are we sure that none of the other transfer nursing students haven't got their decisions?

I know. I specifically asked in my email about that because in my previous experience they told me decisions weren't made but then later I found out actually acceptances had been sent out. So I asked if the acceptances were already out and she specifically said none of the transfer nursing decisions had been posted yet.

God! So scary. That's ridiculous that you weren't informed the first time. Let's just pray that it wont happen this time.

That's my worst fear I'm serious. I literally never received a rejection letter! When I called she just offered to switch it to fall.

Also someone I know who applied for spring as well that didn't get in received a rejection email. I never got that either!
