University of San Francisco CNL Entry Masters

Published

Did anyone else apply to the University of San Francisco Entry Masters program for Summer '09? How do the notifications go out? Anyone accepted or rejected yet? I just submitted my app 2 weeks ago. Any info on this school including competitiveness would be helpful. I have 3.57 undergrad GPA, 4.0 science pre-reqs, clinical experience. Thanks!

Haha I agree with your reasons. Thanks for the update on when we'll be notified!

Any people on the wait list hear anything yet?

No word yet. Does anyone know if we should be expecting a phone call, email or letter in the mail?

I got an email saying we would get a letter by mail by Saturday....I'm assuming that means a rejection letter becasue those who got accepted have recieved calls.

:(

Does anyone (especially grads) know what the recent placement rates have been for USF CNL grads? Also, is the last semester internship designed to segue into potential employment or is it designed as an opportunity to put CNL skills to test?

Congrats to all who have been accepted. I'll be joining you at USF's MSN-CNL for the summer cohort...I finally got accepted! My big question goes out to the people currently in the program, is there time to have a job? I want to resign from my job soon but don't want to shoot myself in the foot. I hear most people start off working but gradually stop when the clinical rotations begin...

Hi future nurses!

I am at USF in the CNL program. I'm in CNL 8 and I started last Summer.

I have to give you some advice if you are on the wait list: CALL THEM! Let them know who you are. I would call every week. Why not? Last year I was waitlisted and I called, and a week later I got an acceptance e-mail.

Don't wait for "Saturday" when the letters will be mailed out. Hell, call them if you aren't waitlisted. At least 2 people in my class were not accepted but they called anyway (even after orientation) and USF said they had an open spot and gave it to them.

Good luck.

nurse hila,

so how do you like the program so far? i've only heard good things about it but have yet to talk to anyone enrolled in or graduated from it. glad you're here! also, i'm wondering if the me-cnl grads have had any more luck in finding employment than some others i've been hearing about on this site? the curriculum sounds very exciting and comprehensive but like most I am concerned about the job market after graduation. also, do you have any idea whether the msn earned can apply towards an advanced practice degree (eg ucsf) or whether the only option is to move towards a dnp? any input is appreciated!

I think peaceofmind8's concerns are shared by all of us who will be starting in May, and I anxiously await any additional info you're willing to share with us.Thanks!

I talked to the recruiter today who told me that they place about 50% of the grads right off the bat and that number will improve with the economy. Hopefully in two years we will have a shot!

That's good news! Let's hope...

Is anyone bringing parents to the orientation?
