Hi All,
I looked and didn't see a thread started for Rochester yet, so I thought I would start one. Has anyone applied or heard anything back from the school. I spoke with them recently and they said it would 8-10 weeks before students would know.
Vanessao and Jenren00,
I grew up in Buffalo, NY, that's about 2 hours away from Rochester. I moved to Arizona about 9 years ago. So I really have been through a NY winter in awhile. But I know that its going to be cold and if its a bad winter a lot of snow. I would say bring warm cloths and read how to drive on icy roads (that can be tricky).

Gabby25,
Congrats on your acceptance! That is very exciting. I am also coming from out of state (Arizona) and I found housing through Rochester Student Housing. I was able to secure a room in white coat village 4 minutes from the school. I know there a apartment style options as well close to campus.
Bumbleface and christinamoore,
I have spoken with admissions and they have not sent out any packets yet. They stated admissions packets will be mailed sometime this week or next. As far as financial aid that will not be reviewed until the first week of October per the financial aid office. I did email the lead financial aid counselor and he was very helpful. What I did find on the schools website is that most students have to take out private loans to pay for most of the cost. Hope this helps.

I spoke with admissions today and was told that the packets were delayed last week and were put in today's mail. I also spoke with the SON financial aid counselor, and he told me that I would be able to take up to the limit of undergrad federal loans ($57,500) after what I already have in student debt, and the rest will need to be private loans. That was a confident estimate, he said, and the official financial aid will be processed and sent out in a month.
Hey guys!
My name's Esmeralda, and like some of you I was on the wait list! I'm currently finishing patho& health assessment which comes to say, be patient! You're most likely to get in! For all of those thinking about places to live don't be afraid to reach out, I'm super friendly & open! I'll share with you all I've learned. Aside from me, there are so many great people in the program who are extremely kind, forthcoming, and welcoming!
Any questions you may have please ask!
Thanks Esmeralda! Has anyone receive his/her acceptance packet yet? If yes, when is the due date to make a decision and what other requirements need to be fulfilled by the packet? Im currently out of the US and my uncle is the one monitoring the mail for me and he hasn't received any mail from the school yet. Also, can those already in the program give us a heads up on how they were able to finance such an expensive investment? I really wanna attend this school but the cost keeps scaring me.
Hey gabby25!
Like many of the cohort attendees who don't work at the hospital or anywhere related to U of R, they've all taken loans out. Yes it's a lot of money, but you honestly will not regret the investment. I merely went in with the mentality that I would receive my license and it would be done, but no. The amount support & desire for their students to succeed is immense. When you're not doing so hot in your classes you have an infinite amount of resources available + we get books from ATI which is our prep program for the NCLEX! So worth it

Bumbleface, I haven't heard anything about financial aid. I'm wondering how that works as well. Id rather get a loan from the school than getting a loan from the bank.
Gabriel, I looked at housing in the "white coat village" it's very close to the school of nursing and the hospital. Congrats!!
Has anyone received the official letter in the mail yet?
