Haven’t seen a thread for this so I wanted to start one. Anyone apply? Deadline was yesterday and of course I’m already anxious LOL
@felicityrichie hey I also applied to the master’s program in mid-October and am scheduled for an interview! Where was your undergrad (I’m living upstate now!)? I too would appreciate any interview tips! Best of luck to everyone!
@ggeminiz hey! I went to SUNY Oneonta, and when I scheduled my interview, it told me whom I would have the interview with so I researched her and just did more research on the program via their student handbook and look through past cohort forums. Im prepping myself in a way I would any interview like why nursing, why this program, what are your outcome goals when you're finished, etc stuff like that. I think its a one on one interview which makes me feel a bit better.
Pace University's interview was a group style and we were timed to answer the questions, it wasn't terrible but I definitely would want that one on one feel because then I could get a little vulnerable when answering! Best of luck to everyone!
Thanks for the helpful interview tips. Also, this might be a silly question, but have you guys filled out the FAFSA for any of the ABSN programs you've applied to/haven't gotten a decision from? I don't remember if the last time I applied to schools I filled it out before receiving a decision or after. And that was like 4 years ago. I know getting a second bachelors' makes it unlikely to get much federal aid, but it doesn't hurt to try.
Hi all! I found this on U of R’s website. Hope this helps!
Preparing for the Interview.
Think about yourself and the information/skills/values you want to share with the interviewer.
Research the unit/area you are interviewing for. What types of clients do they care for, what type of nursing care they provide. Get to know the unit and see if it would be a good fit for you. The more you know about the unit, the more the manager will be convinced of your interest their unit (can check the facilities’s website).
Before an interview, have a mock interview with an instructor or someone who can give you constructive feedback.
Prepare for questions that you may be asked:
Your strengthens, weakness, what your career plans in 1/5 years.
Tell me about yourself. Why you went into nursing? What is your interest in this position?
How would your peers describe you?
How do you handle stress/work under pressure?
Have you encountered conflict with co-workers? How did you handle the situation?
Can you give an example for how you prioritized care of a group of clients?
Tell me about the accomplishment you are most proud of and why? (Can give employer an look into your personal values).
it may be for an actual interview at a hospital but it may also be the template the use as it’s quite general. Good luck!

LOL she was like she takes our applications personally. You could tell how much she’s rooting for all of us ?? I feel like that is the aura we need during this stressful process.
