University of Rochester ABPNN Fall 2012

U.S.A. New York

Hello Everybody:

I decided to make this new thread for the students that are applying to the ABPNN (University of Rochester) for the fall 2012. I have been reading other posts from previous cohorts, but haven't found anyone for the fall 2012 cohort. I sent my application a few days ago, so now I'm in the WAITING process. Does anyone know how long is going to take them to have the final results? Any comments will be appreciated and will help us to stay on top of the GAME!! Good luck to all of you!!

Congrats on the calls everyone! Would you mind posting your stats?

In all honesty, I got a call but I am still 50/50 if I am going to get in or not. My GPA isn't great when I graduated for my Bachelors (3.3 overall) but I graduated Cum Laude with an upper division GPA of (3.6). My prerequisite is lower than those two.. you can imagine!

But I am a Masters student now and I guess it helped a lot that I have experience on healthcare. I have a pretty extensive resume (I am a CNA, and an HIV counselor), and I have all sorts of volunteer experiences in different setting and populations. So I guess they looked at that even though my GPA is not as outstanding?

Even so, I still have to do the interview and I am still competing with probably hundreds of those who got interviews or will get interviews :/

Hi everybody. Does anyone know if it is possible to work part-time during the ABPNN/AMPNN. I am wondering if I can keep my PCT job part-time while in the program?

You can but they don't usually advise it due to the rigor of the program.

I agree with jharry08. Also the CNA job is pretty hard. You'll need to save a lot of energy for that program. Good luck:up:

does anyone know if they are still calling for interview selections? I am surprised i havent heard from them : ( i thought my chances were good but i guess not!

Hey folks, so I just spoke with ..... from the admissions office and they are still setting up times for interviews-so don't despair if you havent received a call yet! my date is towards the end of april. they must be doing everything in shifts, so be patient : )

Hey everyone. How are you planning on paying for the program? The cost is very off-putting for me! I would love to go for one year and be over and done with a BSN to show for it, but the ADN is sooo much cheaper. I figure I could always do a RN-BSN bridge while working as an RN. But part of me is saying "Just go through the accelerated BSN and be done!" I would probably do it if I didn't already have 60K in student loan debt with all the interest from my first Bachelor's Degree loans. What alternative financial sources are you all finding and how much does the school give you?

so, when u called she gave you an appointment?

Hello Everyone!

I just heard from Nancy. We set-up an interview for the first week of April only worry is that she is still waiting for a recommendation letter from a professor. I'm so nervous/upset that my professor sent it to the wrong address (I gave him a self-addressed envelope) and I'm so close. Ugh! Regardless, I hope we hear a response by the first week of May because others schools have sent an acceptance letter already.

Hello everybody:

Today I found out that I am gonna have an interview towards the end of April!! Does anybody know how many people they are gonna interview? good luck to everyone!!!!

For all those anxiously waiting, I suggest you call the office :) I called in today, was asked some questions about my pre-recs this semester, and then was offered an interview!
