University of Rochester ABPNN/AMPNN May 2014

Published

Thought I'd start a thread for those applying to the U of R ABPNN/AMPNN programs for the May 2014 start. I went to undergrad nearby and had a wonderful experience volunteering at Strong and U of R is my first choice school for sure. I'm hoping to get accepted to the psychiatric speciality of the AMPNN program. Who else is applying?

Loans, I suppose....

On their website, it looks like in past years they gave out about ten 10k scholarships, I believe. Don't know if that's a possibility this application cycle?

Has anyone heard anything yet? I'm getting antsy!

Maybe someone can give me some general advice. I was accepted to University of Buffalo 12 month bsn program. It is only 18,000 compared to U of R 60,000. Is anyone else in this position?

Does anyone know when we will hear from them for the BSN program?

They say mid to late January! Hopefully soon! Still waiting to hear advice from people who see such a drastic price difference and still choose U of R.

Wow, so no one will even start to hear til mid-January? Ugh.

etnursing, I think you need to consider what benefits each program might offer you compared to the other. Is it equally easy for students from each program to find work? Things like that. For me, I had a great experience volunteering at Strong Memorial as an undergrad and it made me really want to continue my education at the U of R.

The way I look at it is that it's only a little over a year. Everyone will have to repay their loans, etc after nursing school, so go to a school that you truly believe in and see yourself for the next year and a half. Don't worry about the money. I'm probably going to take out a bunch of loans. The only thing stopping me from attending is if I don't get accepted. You are fortunate enough to get into a nursing school, let alone an accelerated program so take the opportunity!!

You're very right I'm extremely thankful an blessed!!

Does anyone hear anything from the school? I got accepted into Master of Nursing in California. I will go with that school. I hope everyone will succeed in the future.

No I haven't! Congratulations and good luck!

Hi guys!

I applied to the May 2014 ABSN cohort as well. I just graduated and was wondering if I should bother mailing in my transcripts from this past fall semester with my final grades and degree date etc? And has anyone heard anything yet? I want to know already!

Idk maybe if it raised your GPA a lot or demonstrated you could do better in prereqs than you previously had done then send it in. Otherwise it probably won't matter much at this point. That's my guess! Good luck!

Yeah, you're right. At this point I don't think it will matter lol. Has anyone heard anything so far?!
