University of Rochester ABPNN/AMPNN May 2014

Thought I'd start a thread for those applying to the U of R ABPNN/AMPNN programs for the May 2014 start. I went to undergrad nearby and had a wonderful experience volunteering at Strong and U of R is my first choice school for sure. I'm hoping to get accepted to the psychiatric speciality of the AMPNN program. Who else is applying?

I was told you go through the bachelors portion like everybody else and if you are accepted to that your application moves on to the masters admissions board who will re interview and make a decision. If they decide not to accept you for the masters you are still accepted for the bachelors. I am also applying for a FNP. So nerve racking I wish there was more news! Next time someone has an interview ask for stats!

Oh my, just had my interview. I think it went well. She told me about the program and didn't ask any questions. It was more like a conversation. Pretty laid-back.

Do you mean she didn't ask any questions about you personally (e.g. why you want to be a nurse)?

No, surprisingly she didn't. She basically told me about the program, and ask me if I have any questions. She also said that I'm doing great. Do you guys know if we are supposed to have another phone interview for the Master's portion of the program?

Yes, I do believe there is a second interview for the MSN. Maybe we had different interviewers because I got asked a whole bunch of questions about myself?! I hope that's not bad....

Monday. They pretty much said they'd love to take me but the FNP program is so backed up that they can't. Hopefully that's a good sign for the bachelors program though I can always reapply for my masters later.

That's still great that they called you, congrats! Sounds like a good sign if you reapply later.

At least I know I am most likely accepted to the bachelors haha anyone else hear anything?

Hi all! Thanks for all of your helpful advice and encouragement. I am keeping my fingers crossed for you! I have my phone interview this week (I applied for the PNP speciality) and I have no idea what to expect! Any advice or tips? I've gone over a few of the basic questions like why nursing, why your speciality, why rochester, etc. Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated!

I just finished my first interview and waited for the second one. The scheduler said that she is waiting for faculty recommendation and make decision. I do not understand what is faculty recommendation. Have you heard anything from the school? Does anyone get accepted into master yet?
