Did anyone else apply by the Feb 15 priority deadline for Pitt? Looking at previous years it seems like they usually send out interview invites this week so here's hoping! :)
Just finished a 5 year rabbit hole. They used to tell a group of people immediately within a week if they got accepted. These groups tend to be people who automatically met their point system after interview. And then the rest of the folks are out into a pile and ranked with spots determined by the point system ranking. Very logistical. Often times have added interview dates.
From what I can tell, this is the first year they don't have something like that going on or atleast not admitting some folks from the early deadline. Not sure what that means for everyone.
I personally think we will hear back by this Thursday or next week Thursday. Last year had an additional interview date which prolonged people's wait until mid July. We hopefully shouldn't have to wait that long, who knows since they haven't admitted anyone yet.
My thoughts here: with them removing the GRE requirement, competition will be much harder next year so truthfully hoping for the best for everyone. I feel like we were lucky to see "competitive GRE required" to the reality being "send whatever score you have". I wonder how that changes their point system as they typically didn't accept people with less than 300. So wondering if something else is added or something else is now more valued for the point system.
Or perhaps they already have the 5-10 people from the part-time people waiting to start in 2024. I reached out to them and the response I got back was that, they will reaching out to all candidates by this week or next based on the time I got the response. Another friend reached out and was told that we should be hearing back from them early July. No consistent responses. The good news is that there are no additional interviews this cycle! So the 80 interviewed have a higher chance of getting in. There are several people out of the 80 that have accepted admission into other programs as well since they couldn't wait forever on Pitts to decide.

Which interview date did you have? I didn't hear that at mine and that hasn't been mentioned in the chat that I know of. I thought of folks already knowing but the odds of that happening when each past year had a good 5 people on here state their acceptance. Unless this chat is smaller and less active compared to past chats but I don't think that's true. And some folks mentioned being in touch with others at the interviews and no one being accepted. Not saying it's not possible but I'd rather bank on that not being true for my sake LOL
At the first interview we were told that there is a certain score cutoff that they know from prior years and if your score was above it, you'd get accepted and would know within 3 weeks, because that's how long it apparently takes them to get names approved by the powers that be. At this point, I'm thinking that surely we'll hear something by January 8, 2024, in time for the start of the Spring term! ? But all jokes aside, I hope we'll hear this week or next week, just frustrating that there has been so much misleading information, and they've already gone past their own set deadline for early application notifications, so it's hard to know what to believe, and makes you wonder if this is an issue with the program or just a hiccup. 40-50 of us from this interview cycle are about to spend 100k on the program and it's not a great way to start the journey.
Yes, I agree with everyone else that the thing that confused me most was how at the first interview they made it seem so straightforward for high scorers to quickly get admitted.
It set me up with dramatically different expectations that I've had to gradually tear down over the last three months, haha
