University of Pittsburgh CRNA 2024

Did anyone else apply by the Feb 15 priority deadline for Pitt? Looking at previous years it seems like they usually send out interview invites this week so here's hoping! :)

No I got an email that the last round of interview acceptances will be sent out in the next week. The interview will be held June 16th

For an in person interview, doesn't seem like a lot of notice

I disagree. My last interview I received a two week notice and had to be there for two days. Not that I love it. But sometimes it's just how it plays out

Haas anyone officially been contacted for the last interview?

I'm just going off of the Pittsburgh people I know that have been accepted/currently enrolled/graduated which feels like a lot each year.

I applied for the May 1st deadline. Cum GPA 3.5, BSN 3.9, 1yr Lvl 1 STICU (4yrs nursing), Statistics - A, Interview Committee, Skin Care Champion, CRNA Shadowing Experience, GRE 297/4.5 AWA (this is where I struggle). Taking my CCRN in August.

Why did you apply before taking your CCRN? Why didn't you take it before applying? I feel like with how many people applying these days,  CCRN is pretty much required. Unless you have the years of experience to back it up but you only have a year. Not to be a Debby downer but that puts you at a disadvantage. Any research experience? From what I've heard, Pitt values research.

Any of your connects have similar stats or know people admitted with similar stats?

Not to be rude criticizing your stats without being open about mine.
Competitive GPA. CCRN. CMC. GRE >300.  1.5 of experience at level 1 trauma cardiac ICU. Swans, CRRT, IABP. skin care championship. Charge. Code call.  Research Assistant to multiple research projects. New grad EBP.

Applied May 1st literally before deadline and interviewed in May.

Specializes in Surgical Trauma Intensive Care Unit.

I haven't hit the required hours yet to take the CCRN & I wanted to apply since I will have it before the program is expected to start. I've had an interview already for another program with my current stats. CRNA school wasn't my end goal when I graduated nursing school in 2019. If it was I would've jumped on every committee to look "good".

My CRNA significant other wasn't on any research projects or committees and got into a program just fine (CTICU RN). My S/O cousin just graduated from Pitt. I know two current students (One is a PICU RN) and a person who was accepted this past January - All Pittsburgh locals.

Charge experience on my unit isn't something you get with less than 6 years experience on this ICU. We have staff nurses who have worked here on this unit since the 1990's - No one with a year experience is charge here.

Glad you have options! The whole process honestly seems like a lot and sucks to have to do a million one things just to be considered. Good luck

thank you! I just applied for *** and giggles tbh, I don't expect to get into a program until Summer 2024.

every program is different. these people have to decide if they want to spend the next 3 years with you.... not only what you look like on paper. at the end of the day, none of us know anesthesia.

Well, I would hope that everyone who interviewed also applied before the deadline LOL

I think you have a great shot, Pitt looks holistically at candidates who have a good attitude and the compassion to be an anesthesia provider putting patients lives in their hands. They also want someone they can work with for the next 3 years. charge can be a set back as it's not always direct patient care and research isn't required. The Pitt grad I shadowed had less than a year experience before applying and no CCRN or charge experience and she's awesome. Good luck to ya everyone ends up where they're meant to be ?

So no one who interviewed priority received an offer yet?

I know three people personally who interviewed in March or April and none of us have heard anything either way.

I've just been completing some other applications with Summer deadlines, which as others have said does really help to pass the time, even though Pitt is still my first choice.
