University of Michigan (UofM) Accelerated program

U.S.A. Michigan

Hi everyone!!! I am new to allnurses.com - I was wondering if anyone has applied for the Fall 2009 accelerated program? I have not been able to attend an information session due to scheduling conflicts. Does anyone know how many people apply to the program or know any "insider" info? I know that 50 people get in every year - I just submited my application last week for the early response deadline - good luck to all!!

Well, they are adding the extra months to give us more clinical experience (although I know that's not a lot more time). Also we could probably work as a nurse during the masters program. My plan would be to try to work part-time during my masters degree.

Good plan. Or we could do the extra four months then wait to finish the masters....haha. I guess we should wait to see if we are even accepted!

My fingers are crossed!!! :)

I've decided to defer my start at U of D Mercy to January in case I get in off of the waitlist. Perhaps if less people applied I'll have a better chance? I hope so, this program is by far my first choice! Good luck to everyone still waiting!

U of D allows you to choose to do that? That's a good option. I have heard they are much more expensive too, so that would be good for you too! Good luck!

Yup, UDM will allow you to push back your admission one time. I seriously considered starting in May, because I feel that the chances of getting accepted off the wait list are likely pretty low. But now, with all of these program changes, I'm not so sure! I love the new 16 month curriculum and want to be accepted so badly. It is pretty strange that the app due date was pushed back, I don't think that's ever been done before.

I will be so glad (or maybe not...) when I can stop obsessively checking wolverine access.....lol.

I was excited to see I actually have clickable links in my wolverine profile now! Question: how long did it take for tge school to show that all transcripts had been received when u know they have?

It took only a day or so for it to show that my transcripts were there.

Many students from the 2012 class were also waitlisted.

I'm in the program now, and we were informed that the extra 4 months were to add in 2 master's courses. They are trying to convince students to continue with master's degrees.

Did you hear anything about why they extended the application deadline?
