University of Miami

Hello.. I just applied to the University of Miami's Accelerated BSN. I am super nervous because it is the only school that I applied to. There is an early deadline and a late deadline. I applied to the early deadline. I have all of the prerequisite but I am worried about my GPA.

As of now, I have an overall GPA of 3.02 and a prereq GPA of 3.2

At the end of the semester my grades are going to be up, i think overall 3.13 and prereq 3.5

I am wondering if this is good enough to get into the program with what I have now. I am sure they will judge me off of my GPA now and not at the end of the semester since they are making decisions within the next week or so. If anyone has any thoughts or advice I appreciate it. I am driving myself crazy!

Congrats Ash. Did you get accepted to the generic or the Accelerated BSN? I haven't heard too much about the scholarship, but I do know that the information is online, that you have to have a 3.0 and I believe that it depends on your first semester GPA. I am assuming that you got into the accelerated program, since this scholarship is only for that program.

What is your previous major?

Have you gotten your contingency letter? I got it the other day and it starts what you need to get in order to remain in the program, orientation dates, the 800.00 fee that needs to be payed within the 3 weeks of the letter date, and also talks about the different scholarships available.

UM hospitals are great. Currently, I work at Jackson Hospital, It is a huge research hospital and is a clinical site for UM nursing programs.

I've been accepted into the accelerated program. Does anybody have information on what the hours are like?

I haven't received my contingency letter yet, but I'm noticing that I get my mail a few days after other people on here. Perhaps they send them out in cycles? I'm away until Jan 1st so I won't be checking my mail until then.

My biggest concern is coming up with the money to pay for this? Also, has UM been taken off of probation yet?

Yes, that is a big concern for me also. I am sure that I am going to have to take out loans, I just do not know if I am going to receive the full 39,000. I am planning on applying for the scholarship program. I have heard that a bunch of people actually get the scholarship, but you do have a 36 month commitment.

I am also concerned about where I am going to live. I know that I want to live as close as I can to campus. What are your plans for living?

I am not sure about the probation thing. I am sure it will all be fine though and I am not too concerned about that, I mean it is UM. I looked up the stats from last quarter and they received an 80%.

Specializes in Neurology, Neurosurgery.

I also got accepted to the accelerated program. I have not gotten my packet yet but I found out on the website. Does anyone know what the hours of the program are?

I am not sure specific hours for the summer but, I did look at last semesters fall and spring semesters. If you pay your 300.00 fee then you are able to look at the previous course offerings. Make sure you look only at the accelerated option because we only have one choose of professor and class time, I believe. You should get your package soon and then your contingency letter after letting you know the orientation dates, the clinical fees, and financial aid information. CONGRATS!
