University of Miami accelerated program spring 09
ok so today i found out that there isnt accelerated scholars available anymore. guess i missed the deadline to apply or something. "thank you for your interest in the university of miami accelerated bsn scholarship program. at this time we will not be awarding additional scholarships for 2009." i emailed alina asking when the deadline was and how many spots were available and that was the response i got. just giving everyone a heads up incase you were wasting your time applying for that specific scholarship.

University of Miami Accelerated BSN May2009
Hey, Yes I know.. lol.. When I do not have class I do not go on the computer much! I think its if you get below a c that is failing. But, you do not get kicked out of the program if you fail one class. You get held back but then if you fail another nursing course you get sent to the committee and they make a decision. If you fail a course you do not get kicked out right away. I think UM tries really hard to work with you.

I asked Ms. Cabrera about this yesterday and she said that is definitely not the case. She said people do drop but she can usually count them on one hand and with the accelerated program she has not seen very many at all.

I feel like I am in the same situation. It is really difficult. Are you paying rent for an apartment? Are you the one who said you were thinking about moving to Kendall?

Thank you so much for all of your help "followme". I am super super nervous about the program. And anxious and just feeling so many different feelings. My main concerns right now are making sure I can get the full funding, even if I go to a private lender and making sure I have somewhere that I can afford but is kinda nice too. I am hoping to only spend about 600.00 a month in living expense. Do you think I am way off? I know its such a little amount but I just want to know what I should budget for. Thanks =)

Yeah, I am looking for a place closer to campus. I can't wait to start! Have you heard anything else about the program? Do you know anyone who has been in the program?

hi geny, You got into the accelerated program for may 2009? congrats. Yes, I think everyone is going to have to help each other out. Where are you planning on living? Whats your age/sex/previous major?

University of Miami Accelerated BSN May2009
congrats! I live in Pembroke Pines right now, but I really want to be as close to Miami as I can. I do not want to travel an hour everyday to classes. How old are you? Are you living by yourself? I looked at the on campus living but I am not sure about it yet because I know I do not want to be living with young students who are in party mode. I bet you are as excited as both Rohanna and I are. Our journey is going to begin soon, I just can't wait!!

I am not sure specific hours for the summer but, I did look at last semesters fall and spring semesters. If you pay your 300.00 fee then you are able to look at the previous course offerings. Make sure you look only at the accelerated option because we only have one choose of professor and class time, I believe. You should get your package soon and then your contingency letter after letting you know the orientation dates, the clinical fees, and financial aid information. CONGRATS!

I am going to enter the first summer semester May 2009. Congrats on your acceptance. It is very exciting. Are you starting in the summer as well?

Yes, that is a big concern for me also. I am sure that I am going to have to take out loans, I just do not know if I am going to receive the full 39,000. I am planning on applying for the scholarship program. I have heard that a bunch of people actually get the scholarship, but you do have a 36 month commitment. I am also concerned about where I am going to live. I know that I want to live as close as I can to campus. What are your plans for living? I am not sure about the probation thing. I am sure it will all be fine though and I am not too concerned about that, I mean it is UM. I looked up the stats from last quarter and they received an 80%.

Congrats Ash. Did you get accepted to the generic or the accelerated BSN? I haven't heard too much about the scholarship, but I do know that the information is online, that you have to have a 3.0 and I believe that it depends on your first semester GPA. I am assuming that you got into the accelerated program, since this scholarship is only for that program. What is your previous major? Have you gotten your contingency letter? I got it the other day and it starts what you need to get in order to remain in the program, orientation dates, the 800.00 fee that needs to be payed within the 3 weeks of the letter date, and also talks about the different scholarships available. UM hospitals are great. Currently, I work at Jackson Hospital, It is a huge research hospital and is a clinical site for UM nursing programs.
