Hey guys! I know it's early but I thought I would start this. Has anyone applied to this program yet?

They only gave you 2 weeks to purchase it? Wow. I guess it's a time crunch now. I have done most of the stuff on the clinical clearance....just haven't gotten my medical done as yet..
Wow congrats! I'm still waiting on a couple decisions for some ELMSN programs on the west coast, but still thinking UM is my top since it's the quickest route to working. I think I'll have to purchase the clinical clearance before finding out for sure though. Do you remember how much it was?

Yes it was around $289. I think if it's your top choice it's better if you are able to just pay it. I'm happy I did but I am just not 100% certain I'm not doing UM.
By far UM is the best route getting us to work the fastest.
Has anyone admitted to the May start received a financial aid package yet? Someone on the facebook group shared that financial aid packages won't be issued until mid-April, but I can't accept a position at the school without knowing the aid package! I'll call this week but just wanted to check-in here! Thanks so much! Hope everyone is well ?

Ha! I was told that the financial aid packages would be ready by the end of February. Well, I haven't received mine at all. I reached out last week for an update but received no response from financial aid.
To be honest, this is an issue because if I were to start in May, I really need to know if I will need to borrow for the program. Get all my ducks in a row.
If they are now saying Mid-April.....that's way too late for me.
Duke releases financial packages two weeks after being accepted.
Vanderbilt by the end of April for a Fall start.
Oh boy....I keep checking canelink. At this point I just don't know.

Thank you for sharing! I appreciate hearing someone else's experience. Just to be clear, 'Mid-April' is a comment on the facebook page, I don't have evidence that UM reported that timeline.
Another school I got into sent me the financial aid package just days after my acceptance email. At the moment, I need to respond to UM by March 18th yes or no, but it's simply not a decision I can make without seeing financial aid package to determine:
Will federal loans be ample enough to cover all of tuition & also living expenses?
What can my budget for housing be?
What will my personal contribution need to be?
Will I need to pursue private loans?
It feels like such a big deal with a rapidly approaching decision deadline followed quickly by a move across the country to attend.
Sounds like we are in the same boat! I plan to call financial aid this week.

I believe when I researched, the max amount you’ll be getting is around 7,500 for the whole year because it’s a second degree program. The majority of the time there barely is any federal aid and you’ll have to take out private loans, since a lot of people use it on their first degree ?.

Thanks for the response. I've heard back from another program & the financial aid package was significantly more than $7500 so I'm definitely going to wait to hear from UM before making any decisions. I'm just interested if anyone has information about when UM will notify us of our packages.

I thought I read in previous threads that UMiami doesn't give grants and aid. Only federal loans if you haven't reached the limit from your first degree.

Yes we are definitely in the same boat. I thought that by now I would have the financial information but it doesn't seem forthcoming. If I had known then (when I accepted and made the deposit) that the financial aid dept would take this long, I probably wouldn't have accepted.
You say you have to move out of state for University of Miami....that's HUGE, you need that information. I live maybe 60 miles north of UM.....I would also prefer to move closer to the school to make things work. Definitely can't make that decision before seeing the financial aid. I don't know. I don't want to say it's telling that they would commit to one date for financial aid info and not provide it. It seems like admissions is very efficient and great at their job.
Just wondering what I should think about a department where it's been 7 days and ZERO response to admitted students. Wow. Yeah I am not happy.

Same here.....I would just rather see the package than figure out on my own what the financial landscape will be. I love to see things in black and white especially when comparing programs.

I can probably respond to this. I was told by someone in admissions the UM DOES give merit scholarships and grants. I was told that it would be either in the acceptance letter or the financial aid package or once you start school.
To that point, UM looks also a need based loans and has their financial aid applicants complete their family's financial information. (tax returns, w2s etc) I completed this info back in January which UM says on their Canelink that it has received. Just still waiting on someone to review and provide the package.
