University of Miami Entrance Exam

Published

Hi, I just joined so I'm sorry if this question was already asked. I'm in my second year of the undergrad nursing program at Broward college and I'm looking into different Nursing schools to apply to. I've been studying a little for the HESI exam, but I noticed that on the UM website it doesn't say anything about having to take it, or any entrance exam for that matter. I noticed the same thing on the NSU Nursing School website.

Is the HESI exam not required for all schools in FL? I assumed it was. Any information would be appreciated, thanks!

Hello there, i just applied to Nova well back in January for the nursing program.. i am just trying to get into a program at this point and I came across your question.. right now Nova and UM are the only schools in Miami that do not require an entrance exam.. All the other schools such as Barry, Miami Dade and Keiser do require whats called the TEAS test. I am not too sure about FIU because i have not looked into them since they have a huge waiting list.... I hope this information helps and good luck!

FIU requires the HESI entrance A2 exam

just a little correction from the previous response....Barry, Nova and University of Miami does not require an entrance test such as, TEAS or HESI they base on applicants GPA and the interview process, however; University of Miami does a HESI EXIT test after you finish the program and yes as far as FIU you need to take the HESI entrance test and because it is a public state university FIU prefers applicants with an AA ( associate of arts) in nursing to get into their program...as far as which one is the hardest program to get into University of miami is the hardest program to get into but they have the easiest program and curriclum, on the other side Barry and Nova are the easiest program to get into however; they also have the hardest program and curriculum especially, Nova...thats the reason why Barry and Nova are easier to get into because they know students usually start dropping out during the second semester of the program, thats how hard it is...and those who makes it all the way till the end have a very good chance of passing the NCLEX, another reason why both Barry and Nova have the highest NCLEX passing rate in Florida...every school has their own pros and cons you'll just have to figure out what works for you best!!!
