Hey all, I've been waiting to see a UM ABSN 2018 thread pop up but figured I might as well start one. I submitted my application on March 17 and still waiting for NursingCAS to verify my transcripts. From what I've gathered through past threads, its a rolling admission so I'm hoping to hear back in the next few months! Curious if there's anybody else out there who has applied or planning on applying!
Hi all! I know this post is old but I wanted to ask for all of you who ended up attending UM, how many days per week do you have class/clinicals in total? In other words, how many times per week do you actually have to be at/near the school? I currently like 1.5 hrs away so I'm trying to figure out if I really have to move if I end up attending. I used to live in Miami and know my way around, but I was just curious.
Hi! That's actually a question I tried getting answered before starting as well. Every term is different. Our first term in as follows: Mon & Tues, 2 classes each day so we're on campus all day; Wed we have a lab, which is only 2 hours long; Thurs OR Fri are our clinical days which is assigned, we don't get to pick days or locations. Next term, we'll have classes and labs Mon-Fri. First term is the only term to have a day off during the week. It takes me about 40 min to drive to campus in the mornings. It hasn't had a negative impact on me so far; I was able to study for the Med Calc exam in traffic, which I passed! Hope this helps
THanks for letting me know! 40 minutes isn't bad. I'm in Palm Beach county so that extra 45 min through the traffic could end up being very annoying...haha. I used to live in Coral Gables and loved it, so if I was going to move for school I would def want to go to UM. I guess I will worry about it if I even get accepted. Applying for Summer 2018 start and submitting my app tomorrow. Fingers crossed! How is the program so far?
Wondering if any of you can help answer this pls...
I applied for the Summer 2018 entry in May. I submitted my application January 25 and I got the email from UM with my Canelink. I registered and saw my application is still incomplete bc NursingCas hasn't verified my transcripts (I paid for the Professional Transcript Entry which I'm now thinking was a terrible mistake and I should've done it on my own). I called them and they said it can take up to 4 weeks for everything to go through! WTH!!
I keep getting mixed answers - some are saying as long as you submitted before the Feb 1 deadline and they confirmed receipt and you got your Canelink, you are fine and they will review everything once your file is in. Others are saying you need to have everything in within 2 weeks. I'm so confused lol can someone give me a legit answer for this who has gone through this process already?
I feel like NursingCas complicates everything...schools up north do not use it and it's so simple bc you literally just send everything directly to the school and they can confirm it all within a week or 2. But I live in SE FL now and want to stay here and eventually work here so I'm only applying to schools here.

Nope, nothing. Very frustrating.
