University of Maryland Spring 2010

Published

Hello, Since the other University of Maryland postings were high stress 'leveled' I'm starting a new one!

I've enjoyed the 'helpfulness' amongst the 2009 classes but here's 2010's THREAD START :heartbeat

So my application is in for UMD and if anyone else wants to celebrate being done applying and sending everything

in put up a cheer!!!

for just being done with applying!!!

I wonder how long it'll take to get a YES!!! or a thank you, next time :crying2:

Anyways, I heard there is usually 400-500 applications for about 150 slots... so hopefully everyone turns out okay.

I wonder how many applicants at Wens. Nov 18th BSN info session are going to get scared off once they realize the admissions office can't make up their minds for this semester. I wonder if it'll get ugly.... :coollook:

I really hope there is an awesome reason for this... I'd feel better if they'd just be honest and admit to: hey someone really important quit and left us high and dry, or our computers exploded, or we lost everything and now we're re-doing it last second...

Hmmmmmm.......actually I am giving the Information Session at Shady Grove tonight. Do you think I need a bodyguard?

Haha, Grey Lady. There are a few of us on this thread who have training in hand-to-hand combat. Let us know if you would like for us to come and pose as applicants sitting in the audience to ensure your safety!!! It's the least we could do since you've had our back for so long! Just kidding---I really don't think you're going to face a hostile audience tonight.

Never had a problem yet I could not handle......and my 6'2" son is just a quick cell phone call away. I'm really interested in what kind of questions come up, however.

I don't think the crowd will be hostile... everyone who has already applied probably won't be at the information session... so it might be best to skip the slow down on the admissions process this semester since there won't be a accred. going on until 5 yrs from now...

but thank you Grey Lady for letting us know.... and I THINK the BSNs that were told this week they had a spot were the ones who deferred there acceptance a semester.... not sure :twocents:

Thought we could all use some comic relief today (see YouTube link below for Footloose--Nursing School Style). These student nurses have WAY more rhythm than I do---glad that wasn't a prerequisite for nursing school!

I've done some security details for high ranking officers in hostile areas. :smokin:

no one's gonna mess with grey lady~!

Well, I so appreciate your good wishes and your talents. Fortunately they were not needed.......but I will remember you for the future! (: Thanks!

Grey Lady,

I have to put down payments for my 2nd choice BSN program the 25th, buy uniforms (for some reason we must buy 1 set of scrubs, lab coat, etc. from a specific company that will be at orientation... ugh) and a $95 pre-packaged clinical kit... I am sure there is a handful of other BSN's in my same situation...

do you think it would be too ugly of me to think I could hear back from UMD before next Wens.?!?! Sorry, but I turned in my application a month later for this school; than I did UMB and haven't heard a word from UMD, except for the apology shortly email.... Have they already accepted the 130 BSN students and since my file still reads committee ready.... sorry, but it's just frustrating.... I called today at closing time and was suprised my call was answered, but the lady told me, 'nothing has been done for BSNs and I cannot give you a date when they will be started'.... so nothin'

haha wow no one has gotten in yet?!?!?! wow just wow... sucks to not but in a contracted school :loveya: money well spent then :D

'nothing has been done for BSNs and I cannot give you a date when they will be started'.... so nothin'

Can this be accurate or was she just being super evasive?!!! I can appreciate the magnitude of the scope of work they're dealing with, especially having accredidation thrown in the mix but my goodness. Is it a priority or not? At some point you just have to think nobody cares. (except Grey Lady of course!) UGH!!!
