University of Maryland Spring 2010

Published

Hello, Since the other University of Maryland postings were high stress 'leveled' I'm starting a new one!

I've enjoyed the 'helpfulness' amongst the 2009 classes but here's 2010's THREAD START :heartbeat

So my application is in for UMD and if anyone else wants to celebrate being done applying and sending everything

in put up a cheer!!!

for just being done with applying!!!

I wonder how long it'll take to get a YES!!! or a thank you, next time :crying2:

Anyways, I heard there is usually 400-500 applications for about 150 slots... so hopefully everyone turns out okay.

Does anyone else have the "frankly my dear, I don't give a damn" kinda attitude at this point?

I wish I did... but my local ADN program made a mistake and counted up my 'points' wrong... and I was able to prove it to the program assistant director who was so apologetic that they missed a 3.75 GPA applicant... the 'mistake' is still beyone me at this point; but that was an idiot move on their part.

But, when I talked to the program director she told me "what's done is done" and your still waitlisted... I lost 6 whole points out of 20 when I should have gotten 19/20 for my ranking points; Instead, I got 13/20 because she couldn't read my transcript correctly OR bother to take the time.

SO I hope UMD politely saying 'gets it right' for us and I don't care how long they take. If I don't get into UMD I could still legally fight my ADN program and get my BSN in 3 years, but I haven't gone there with them because; without fighting it- I will prob. get in with my high waitlist number....otherwise if UMD says 'no thanks' to me; I am going into my ADN program with guns blazing....

Southernliving... by the way nice quote on Gone With the Wind...I think you gave away your age...that's my mom's fav movie.... Clark Gable still isn't my type though ;)

Are you serious that's a HUGE mistake?!??!!!!?

Are you serious that's a HUGE mistake?!??!!!!?

Yes, the program director forgot to turn the page of my transcript to see that I had completed Microbiology already, and History 106, which I had gotten a B+ and an A in.... Worst part was she said 'oh my mistake, what's done is done, I can't take someone's slot away, you know we had 20 people that were waitlisted get in this Fall semester'... all I could think was 'LADY MY POINTS CLEARLY STATE THAT I FAIR AND SQUARE EARNED A SLOT; I'M SORRY YOU CAN'T ADD OR READ A TRANSCRIPT; WHO ELSE DID YOU SCREW UP ON?!?!'

Instead, I thanked her for her time and walked out & cried in my car.... So if I do get turned down from UMB then I hope they won't give me that answer and say 'oh don't worry about it, you'll prob. get in' WHAT?!?! so um, yeah, if her prediction doesn't happen, and UMB says sorry, try again next year, I'm going to go to the College President if the Nursing department can't fix their math error....

Now who says that a 20-something can't enjoy and appreciate a classic like "Gone With the Wind"? BUSTED!! :smokin:

hahaha.... i still don't like Gone with the Wind.... so dramatic.... but yeah you got me.... I'm orginally from Atlanta and none of my friends like it.... or any of the older james bond movies.... but hello daniel craig and the new ones!!!! although 'rear view window' with grace kelly is kickin'.... west side story... etc.

Helloooo other thread. I think I have been posting on the "higher stress" thread. Pretty sure the stress level is the same though :coollook:

Rosesarepink - so sorry to read about what happened to your transcript! I can barely believe it!

I know--Rosesarepink--that's absolutely ridiculous. I would have gone to the president already. That's unacceptable. That's such a sticky situation because why would you even want to go somewhere that wouldn't even bother fixing their mistake on something so important, your acceptance.... You pay an application fee to avoid such mistakes. Everything happens for a reason. Hold tight for UMB...even though the next five days will seem like an eternity! Good luck guys, and you better post as soon as you see something on your status! Keeping the fingers crossed! Ok I'm going to go an hour without checking my status or this forum...let's see how that goes :(

mhinds--

woah woah woah...where are you getting 5 more days from!?

you just ruined my hour of not coming here!!! :) haha.... no, I was making a guess. I doubt it will be today, so that's 1 day...obviously not the weekend, 3 days....Monday, maybe, Tuesday seems more promising because Monday they can finalize decisions, that's five days. That's just my rationale, I'm probably wrong, though. I said on an earlier post I bet next Tues will be when we hear back. I don't know though, sorry I probably should have mentioned that it was just my thought process haha

OMG your prediction just ruined my life right now (j/k). I was convinced we were going to hear today. I am still holding out hope!!!

let's go with your prediction for today...that's much better than mine!!
