Nathan,

Ours were online, this is the first year since COVID they will be back in person. Last year they were personal situational questions. Nothing clinical when I did mine. They are super super brief.  Nothing I could have studied for. Even doing a mock interview would not have helped me personally. Just take your time and think about your answers even if it seems rushed. The program people might seem intense but they are super nice. Look professional and be yourself. Don’t freak out if it felt like it went awful because I definitely didn’t think I got in when mine was over but I did. Also we had some wait list people get in too so don’t be discouraged. It seems so intimidating but you can do this! We had 400 applicants last year, 100 interviews, 30 seats. If I can do it, you can do it!

Hi Travelrn593,

Thank you for offering insight into the application process. It’s so valuable and helpful.

Is there anything you feel you did that made you stand out as an applicant during your interview? Do any of your colleagues recall clinical questions for their interviews? Thanks in advance!

No problem! I remember how nervous I felt and how much this meant to me. To be honest I didn’t really felt like I had much that made me stand out. I had a good GPA (3.86), 3.5 years of ICU (one of them was travel) and and some committee experience. I wish I could say I was this 4.0 volunteer with 10 years of CVICU charge but I’m not at all ?.
The questions are more about you as a person. Like exploring personal opinions, biases, peeves, how you handle conflict, stress. Kinda like those tell me a time when job interview stuff. Nothing medical. When we did our info session before the interview they talked about how they just want to know about you, because the apps show your clinical knowledge and ability to succeed in school.

Thank you so much! This is very helpful and encouraging! You’re such a gem.

Hey Travelrn593 I'm new to this site and can't figure out how to direct message. How do you like the program. If I was to be given a spot I would be moving my entire family across the US. How do you like the city and suburbs?

So I actually live outside of the city because I am not a huge fan of the city life. There are some outskirts that are better options if you are like me. There are a fair amount of people that did move from far away in my class and they seem to have adjusted pretty well. The support that you will get from other classmates make it a lot easier. The only thing that sucks about out skirt life is parking.

I’m guessing if you didn’t get an email by now that you didn’t get accepted for an interview? Always next year for me

I haven’t heard anything one way or the other yet either. The decision tab on the portal looks the same too so I’m unsure what’s going on.

have they sent out the finalized schedule for the interviews yet?

Anyone have a copy of the PowerPoint they sent out? I could never get it to work.

I just sent you a pm with the attachment, let me know if it works

Can you share the PowerPoint with me as well? I tried so many different ways to open it and nothing worked.

Good luck to anyone that has a interview today!
