University of Houston-Victoria Second Degree BSN 2012

Has anyone applied to UHV Second Degree BSN program for Spring 2012?

I am out of town and back to Houston on Sunday. Regarding the blue card, has anyone gotten there's yet that was fingerprinted on or after Nov. 8th?

Hey CookieTL,

I recieved my Blue Card on the 23rd, and I was fingerprinted on the 10th. I expected it to come in today due to the holiday. You should be getting it pretty soon. You'll be fine on Monday as long as you bring in the L1 Solutions form that was filled out pror to getting fingeprinted. Try not to worry. It'll come soon. ;)

Do any of the current students have information regarding meeting dates after we've been accepted?

I only live in Houston for school and will be returning home for the holidays about a week after the interview. I am wondering if there were any mandatory meetings for you guys before the start of the new term. I will be away from December 6th to Jan. 5th. I know the term starts on Jan 17th. Did you have to appear at the school prior to that? or was all the communication does via e-mail?

Of course I am willing to change my flights if I need to, but it would be nice to know what to expect in advance. Thank you so much for any help you can give me!

See you all very, very soon. :)

Thx CareAngel......I will do my best not to worry.:) I just want to have everything I need for the interview.

Other than an FYI, why do you suppose we received the Standards of Professionalism email? Anyone?

Good question fizzylime,

I was wondering the same thing. I'm limited on my vacation days and I want to make sure I use them accordingly before the year is up. I'm sure we'll know for sure on Mondau during the interview.

CookieTL,

Whos knows.... Although I'm not taking anything they send us lightly. I feel like we are going to be tested throughout the entire interview process. Right now, I'm kicking myself in the butt because when I emailed my CPR card, I realized that I didn't sign it!!! UGH!! I feel like I'm gonna go into this interview with a "tick mark" already. I hope that I'm just over reacting. We'll see what happens.

CareAngel, if thats the case, I maybe in trouble too. I only emailed the front of my card......I think, its just best to hope for the best. (as I'm talking to myself) We are really doing everything in our power to meet all requirements before Monday......gotta get an" A" for effort.

I'm sure you guys are fine! Forgetting to sign a card or only sending one side isn't a huge deal. I think they wanted an advance copy so they could ensure that we all had the correct kind of card. If there was an error or a problem, one of the advisors would have e-mailed you directly.

Don't go into the interview thinking you've already done something wrong! That's not good for your confidence!! And I know you'll both do great. :)

Fizzylime, Thanks for the vote of confidence!

fizzylime,

You know, I don't remember exactly when we had to go for pre-term dates, but I do know that we had to go to an "orientation" before school started. I'm pretty sure that it was in the very beginning of January, but it was close to when school started. I don't remember needing to do much except buy books at the end of December.

Also, for those of you who asked about finances, I have a tad bit of info for you.

Every student is qualified to get a $500 grant for a second-degree student, per semester. I'm not sure what the technical term is, but I know that we all got it. Also, if you live in Ft. Bend, you are eligible for a TON of scholarships. If you don't live in Ft. Bend (like me :( ), you are on your own in trying to find scholarships outside of UHV.

For the most part, you are correct in assuming that second-degree students don't qualify for any grants, except for that $500 per semester. Also, the loans % rates are much higher is you already have a degree. Not so fantastic, but if you live in Ft. Bend county, it's much easier.

Did everyone just get the email about the group activity and Standards of Professionalism from the American Nurses' Association?

Hint for the interview: When they tell you to do homework.....DO IT!

:nurse: This looks like a little bit of homework.
