University of Houston-Victoria Second Degree BSN 2012

Published

Has anyone applied to UHV Second Degree BSN program for Spring 2012?

Interviews are coming up and Im super excited!!!! Any info on what to prepare for? Are you asked the standard question, "why do you want to be a nurse?" Give as much info as you can, please.

I honestly do not remember if they asked "why do you want to be a nurse?" But come prepared to work in a group, be professional, dress business casual attire (some wore suits) and smile! Throughout the program we worked in group projects every semester. So be sure you can show them that you can work well with others and be able to present.

Good luck!

Thanks for your response. Im new to the allnurses family. I did get a chance to read through the thread and really appreciate all of the awesome information! Nervous barely touches how I really feel and any new information that is uncovered as we get closer to the date would be greatly appreciated.

CookieTL,

I'm nervous EXTREMELY nervous too!!!!!!! But I can't wait!!!

i would bring the shot record anyway. you know, i'm just gonna take everything resume, shot record, cpr card (even though it was already faxed). with my luck they will ask me for something that i just happen not to have with me, so i'm taking it all. lol! i would say go prepared!

I just wish I knew what the (computer) interview promt was going to be. I think that is the part that is most making me nervous.

CareAngel,

Im with you! Even a hint would be helpful.....:) Maybe, an angel will drop us a word and we can go from there. Do you know anything about the group scenarios? Better yet, what is your understanding of the course of the day? 5 hours is a long time.......

CookieTL, I'm only going by what the letter said. I have no clue what to expect. I only know what I have read on previous posts.

hi all,

i emailed ms. pullin (advising specialist) and she told me

"you will not be required to bring copies of your immunization records to the interview. the school of nursing will be going over the form that we would like for all of you to fill out at the interview"

i'm bringing mine with me anyways...

hope this helps!

Hey everyone,

Don't worry about the computer interview. It's a test to see if you are computer literate since this program is half in class and half online. You have to know your way around a computer and be able to answer the prompt. I don't know what the prompt is but you all have experience with life; I'm sure y'all can write about it.

I was in your shoes last year! Nervous and I was sick too! During Dean T's intro and speeches, I kept coughing and sneezing! I sounded awful! Make sure you rest up and don't stress over Thanksgiving! I know this sounds easier than executable, but try! Do your best and be yourself.

Anyone have a question, just PM me if you can't ask on here!!!

Thank you hnphan! Your comments and everyones comments have helped me out a lot!!!!!
