Just started the app for this school's program. Anyone else thinking of applying here? I'm pretty annoyed at how expensive the application is: $100 for the grad school and $65 for the NursingCAS application system! This will be one of my fallback schools in case I don't get into my favorites...but the surf life and the tropical breeze does sound very very appealing! Also, anyone know anything about this school's reputation?
Thanks!
Sam
Hi guys! I thought I'd create an account to get in touch with some of you. I will be entering the 2013 UH MEPN cohort for FNP. I'd like to create a Facebook Group Page for us, but I need to have some people to add to our group to create it. If a couple of you would like to shoot me your facebook contact info in a PM, I'll start a page for us.
Awesome! I just pm'd you.
I was told today that even though June 3rd will mark 365 days I have lived on Oahu, I have a Hawaii driver's license, a one year lease agreement on a house and my car has been registered in the state of Hawaii since June 13, 2012 that I do not qualify for "In-State" tuition. Their reason was that I have not been employed here.......REALLY...... I guess saving your money and living on a budget so that you don't have to work, works against you in Hawaii!!!!!! Sorry- extremely frustrated about paying 80,000 instead of 42,000. Also... does anyone know if the 80,000 covers the entire NP program or just the first year? I have heard contradicting statements.
@melyssamajano- I was confused about the 80K as well so I talked to Shannon about it. So the 80K is just for the first year I'm not sure what it will cost after the first year, but I know it is cheaper. Don't worry, I feel your pain, I was in shock when I saw how much in loans I was going to have to take out just for the first year, but if we want to go there, we really don't have a choice. However, I did apply to a few regular masters in nursing programs, and even though they were rn degrees and not NP programs, they still were around the same. I got accepted to University of San Diego's Nursing program and it was 100K for just your RN. I decided on hawaii because at least it was an NP program, and I figured the cost would come out being the same if I went the RN route first and then applied to an NP program after we graduate. I understand your frustration though, seeing that you do live in hawaii and have for a while
cici81-Hey! I will PM you because I couldn't find the group. As for when I will be going out to Hawaii I am still unsure. Since I applied for grad housing, I have to wait to get my housing contract to see when I can even begin to start moving my things in. But since we have orientation Aug.12th-15th, I am thinking that I will probably be heading out there the first or second week of August.
Okay, I just sent you the invitation ang. I'm not admin though so Danlayman will have to approve it. I was thinking about moving out there the last week of July or the first week of August. I still don't have housing lined up, it's so hard to figure out being so far away!!! How much is grad housing?
