Hello, future nurses!

I'm a current U of C student who applied through the degree holder route. I'll be graduating at the end of this year. Please feel free to post any questions here!

Another round of applications is starting soon for the January 2019 intake of Transfer and/or Degree Holder students. Here's the U of C page for their info:

One of the most common questions is whether the courses you have taken meet the faculty's pre-requisites. The best way to be sure is to email a screenshot of your transcript to [email protected] and ask if you are missing anything.

Important note! As of 2019, the faculty is changing the schedule for the summer terms.

"We will compress all courses in Term 4 and Term 7 to be offered over a 9-week period from late April to the end of June. The result would be an intense spring term, but students would have no scheduled nursing courses during July and August."

While having 2 months off sounds great for some, it causes trouble for others (student loans, jobs, child care etc.). Please be aware of this change before applying.

Best of luck!

Just FYI, I emailed admissions and they said the GPA cutoff for last year was 3.53. I heard it might be lower this year as the courses that they calculate for entrance have gotten more difficult apparently.

Hi all, I applied in July and am currently finishing up my last few GPA boosters at Athabasca. Since the deadline for final marks to be on your transcript is August 31, I am currently rushing Athabasca to get my final grades posted by then. Better safe than sorry is my thought!

I did BIO 235 and MATH 215 at Athabasca plus a bunch of other courses for GPA boosters. My GPA should be in the 3.65 - 3.71 range once everything is done.

hi all...pls can i just call up admissions to help me calculate my CGP .. not sure too sure how to do it myself

@ Kenobi..thanks 4 all ur input...been following dis thread since last year as i was denied 2018 admission.

pls wen is d best time to start applying for grant.??

I'm not sure if admissions will tell you your GPA... it depends on who picks up the phone.

Grant, as in student loan? Here's the application info for Alberta Student Aid: How to Apply | Alberta Student Aid

many thanks Kenobi.

My pleasure!

Hi Elise1996, was the cutoff GPA for transfers or second degree applicants? That would really take a bit of stress off of things if they cut off is a bit lower, although I'm still aiming for my B+!

hii..spoke with admissions today..cut off dis year is starting @ 3.6..

malubaby re u taking a $ p online @ athabaska??

if you apply both at the degree route and transfer route under 2 separate applications if you would be considered for both?

I am. My final exam is on Sunday (August 26 2018). So far I've averaged a B but I heard the final is the hardest. I'll be doing my final quiz late tomorrow so hopefully that goes well.
