Has anyone applied to this program to start Fall of 2023? Looking to chat and keep in touch through this process! I am getting my PALS certification next week and then should be submitted right after!

I'm planning on applying. Not sure if it is worth it.

Why do you say that?

Applied
I’m sure it’s always still worth it but I barley just hit my year mark in the ICU. I saw on their page that they recommend 2 years in the ICU prior to applying I believe.

I just checked again and it says two years of clinical experience is strongly recommended and then a minimum of one year in the ICU. Did you have experience prior to ICU? It couldn’t hurt to try as long as you can get your certifications done in time! PALS is required to apply and then the CCRN is strongly recommended.

Yeah so I started in a CVICU. It’s a large level 1 so I hope they take that into consideration. I have my BLS, ACLS, PALS, and CCRN. I feel like my GPAs are decent. I didn’t take college super serious early on and got C’s in Bio 1/2 when I was premed.

I feel you about not taking college seriously at the start. My first semester ever I got a 1.7 and had to do some serious catch up after that. ? It really wasn’t until I started my science and nursing courses that my grades got a lot better! My cumulative is a 3.5 but my science/nursing is like a 3.9. Did you have to have PALS for your job?
Also for the personal statement part of the application, what did you guys do? On Nursingcas it’s not specified but online it says a limit of 250 words. Which I would totally be good with! I just feel like it’s way easier than other statements I’ve done so it’s too good to be true!

Anyone reapplying from last year? I’m stuck on my personal statement. I can’t decide if I want to reuse what I wrote for my last application or scrap it/update it.

My opinion/understanding is that most schools don’t put my weight behind the personal statement… but maybe since you’re reapplying they would compare your original and your new one to see if your goals and motivates have changed or if you’ve done anything to better prepare yourself. I would probably do a new one personally. Have you tried calling to get the opinion from someone who works admissions? They would be able to give you a more sure answer!
Since you’ve applied before, do you by chance know how many the interviewed and how many the took last year? As well as when they started reaching out to people to schedule interviews?

Yes I did have an advising appointment but still wanted to hear from others that had reapplied!
Don’t remember how many they interviewed last year but they took 18 people. Notifications were delayed and began in February and interviews were first two weeks in March. They called people about interviews and then emailed if you missed the call. Also called people about acceptances. People who were accepted found out fairly soon after the two weeks of interviews were concluded. I didn’t receive my official waitlist and then non acceptance until late April/early May.
I would also say that this school does place importance in your personal statement because they specifically pulled something from mine and mentioned it in the interview for me to speak on. And yes it is only 250 words for the person who asked earlier!
