Universities that don't require a current job

Nursing Students Online Learning

Published

I'm looking to get my BSN. I have a foreign nursing diploma and a CA RN license.

I was interested in University of Wyoming, Fort Hays University, and .

Fort Hays out of State tuition is horrendous (there in state tuition is the cheapest I've seen though). WGU won't let me attend if I'm not actively working, which I don't, since I can't endorse my CA license to a VA license.

Since I don't work right now, the need for procotoring at UWy doesn't really make it my first choice either now. Too bad, because their tuition was really low too! I don't have any relationships to any hospitals out here (we just moved to VA from CA)

I believe Walden University has the same working requirements.

Does anyone have more info?

I prefer a 100% online program, with no clinicals. My husband will start this program with me and he's AD military, so something with clinicals won't work for him either.

Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Grand Canyon University.....I just started the program. They do give a military discount as well. 100% online. Each semester is 5 weeks long--lot of work--but short!! Registered Nurse to Bachelor of Science in Nursing (RN to BSN) | Grand Canyon University

Thanks, I have heard of it, but haven't looked into it. Will definitely do that soon!

At the TOP u see a heading--DEGREES--they are under there! I went with GCU for a few reasons

1) 100% online

2) No set time to check in--but one does have to post so much on discussion board topics ( 2 a day, at least 3 times a week)

3) Very inexpensive...and if u belong to ANA--u get 10% off...but if u take a longer than a 2 week break between classes, you require approval--otherwise u loose that discount

4) 1 pays I think $110 per course for all ur books per course, and they are all online (i stocked up on generic ink so I could print some off)

5) GCU did not hassle me!! Wow, some other schools sent daily emails, phone calls! was not expecting that!

6) Numerous start dates throughout the month.

7)Each semester is only 5 weeks long---I have heard they do throw a lot at ya, but people with families that work full time do it!

Lot of good schools out there, just need to find 1 that works with you
