Know several friends that work at UHS, but in the Northeast, not the south so cannot comment on these particular locations. Generally the wages are pretty good, but floors are often chronically short staffed, and you can get an ungodly amount of admissions, sometimes inappropriate ones, because UHS is very much for profit. Buzzfeed just came out with an expose about the conditions in their Psych facilities. Having good coworkers can make the difference between conditions being tolerable and unbearable. Would really make sure you have a good rapport with the nurse manager and that you don't see any red flags during orientation before you commit to working with them.

I work at a different UHS facility. I felt my salary was comparable to other facilities in the area. As oceanblue said i have. Noticed that they tend to be short staffed. I work on a gero unit and i know my coworkers make all the difference. They are so short staffed i believe they sometimes keep nurses they shouldn't.

I worked for a UHS facility up north. Coworkers were great, made working there fun. If it wasn't for them it would not have been a good place to work. Benefits are so - so and upper administration can be disorganized. The 401k and stock plan is nice though, as well as the fact you can relocate anywhere in the country because they have so many facilities. Overall I would work for them again, it wasn't terrible...just room for improvement.
