Has anyone done this program? I'm looking into it and it seems great but there are hardly any updates reviews. Thanks!

What class are you taking currently? I’m in Advanced Pathophysiology. Deadline June 28 for preceptor recommendations

I’m in 561 but I have a few classes I transferred in from another MSN program so I don’t have to take 560, 565, or Patho. I should be done 12/21 if everything stays on schedule. How’s patho going?

WOW!! that's crazy. I will see If I can find the list they gave me before. They used to give a list. I had to look here in Seattle though because the list is mostly for Cali, Vegas residents.

If you could find it and email it to me that would be awesome [email protected]

I have not heard nice things about chamberlain. I currently know 5 of their students who are now in USU. Walden does not have a good reputation with most clinical sites. Most people say they are a diploma mill. Colorado technical university is currently being investigated due to misuse of funds (I would Google for more info). This is not to discourage you from attending the other schools. I am just passing on what I have heard. I am in my fifth class at USU and I would say my only complaint is that communication sucks. You ask the same question, but you get different answers from everyone. They do not help you secure clinical sites. I went this route because it was the cheapest I could find.

I went to Chamberlain for my BSN and it wasn't for me- so I changed over to Aspen and loved it. I can't speak for the FNP program but I do know the BSN program was difficult to navigate online. Aspen had wonderful advisors and professors. Many of whom also teach or have taught at other programs. USU is a sister school to Aspen.

I don’t like it honestly. The midterm was a mess and they don’t really help you when you ask questions. I’m mainly using osmosis .

Hi folks, thanks for this super helpful thread!

Two questions: did anyone transfer in credits from another MSN program, if so how many can you transfer?

Thanks,

Lauren

Yes, I transferred 3 classes (9 credits) over from a previous MSN program. Not sure how many are able to transfer in.

Okay, I will be finishing my last BSN class on 9/28/2020. My loan will be paid off in 2022. I will then apply for the FNP program at USU.

Any tips on finding out if hospitals/clinics in my area would hire a FNP from there? Or is it all based on passing boards????? Should I call local HR departments? I live in Missouri but boarder Arkansas. Kansas, and Oklahoma so I would need to know every on of those states.

I am four classes in and the program is pretty good. Workload is comparable to my online BSN.

I attended USU because it is California approved and one of the most affordable FNP programs around. Payments are only $375 a month. I start clinical's in a few months and will update if anyone is interested.

Any specific question feel free to reach out.

Hi,

I am thinking about this program for my FNP, I live in northern California. How has the pandemic affected the program?

How are the clinical set up?

Thank you in advance,

JKM,RN/BSN

@JMstudent I also live in Norcal and just applied to this program. What other FNP programs have you looked into? I also applied at Walden and WCU.

I don't know anything about any of these programs?

I just want to go to a NP Program that allows me to work and go to school and is accredited in California ?.

I'm starting USU FNP program September 1st. From what I have researched on other programs, this one seems to be the most "work friendly". At least for the first year. The second year, I plan on working 1-2 days/week (12 hr. shifts) and using my PTO that I will have saved over the year for my third day. This keeps me at a full time status during school. This program is accredited in California too. Hope this helps

@mludo, good for you! what state are you? Are you planning your clinicals with a preceptor ahead of time? I guess that's the real challenge..
