Nursing Students NP Students Nursing Q/A

Has anyone done this program? I'm looking into it and it seems great but there are hardly any updates reviews. Thanks!

I am enrolled. As Stevoh760 said, classes actually begin Tuesday. The week runs from Tuesday to Monday. If you are familiar, they use the D2L platform. Super easy to navigate.

I'm working ahead for the week and saving my work. If I understand correctly, you cannot turn work in before the due date. This is an advantage, in my opinion, as I can get a good headstart. For this coming week, I believe I'll have everything done by Tuesday, other than responses to two 250 word posts, due Thursday and Saturday. One response can be made the day of your original post, and the second needs to be on another day. Responses for this week are 150 words.

All quizzes for this first course allow two attempts. I do like to read rationales so I can correct anything I have missed or misunderstood in the information given. Your highest grade is recorded as your grade for the course.

For this first course, discussion boards carry the weight of the grade. I don't know if that will follow as time goes on.

There are about 80 minute or so of videos to be watched and three power points that coincide with three chapters of reading this week. The power points have a couple of review questions and, though I do not have the book yet, seem to be a summary of what they really want you to know. The quiz this week is based on thoese three chapters.

Access to each course, every 8 weeks, comes available on Saturday before anything is due on Tuesday (or maybe Wednesday). I am just getting into the material and will post more as I go. So far, it seems manageable. I was told there is one class every eight weeks the first year, then two classes and clinical hours the second year. I did learn that the second class that was referred to are the clinical hours and more academics. I believe with the format the way it is, the second year will be busy, but habits in how to manage the assignments will be well established.

Hi, starting my 3rd class next week. You can turn your work in before the due date but not before the instructor "opens" the turn-in date. Your first discussion post is due Thurs and second Sat. The responses aren't due until Monday at 2359. There is a lot of writing. My first class there was a powerpoint project we had to do a word cloud project, make a brochure or flyer, write a paper on stating up a clinic, and a couple of other papers besides the discussion boards. Total points for the course are 1000.

Thank you for this feedback! It's good to know what is ahead!

Hi all,

I finished my FNP program at USU last year September 2019. I did not start reviewing until November as I needed to take a break. I took my AANP board exam 2 days ago (January 8, 2020) and passed the first time. (it was nerve wracking!)

On my 2nd year, I dropped my FTE to .6 as it was becoming so hectic. I was working 2 days (12 hrs shift) and did 2 to 3 8 hrs clinical. My suggestion to you all is to find preceptors as early as now. Also, on your vacant days, try to do as much homework as you can, watch youtube videos if you can't understand the system. there's a lot of reading but you guys can do it. Think about the capstone that you want to do as early as now.

Enjoy your journey! you guys got this! Good luck and you guys can PM me if you have any questions!

Hi! Thank you so much for this post! I cannot send PMs. I do have a few questions if you would be willing to talk with me. I just started USU last week. I really appreciate your advice on preceptors and intensity of the schedule in the second year. My email address is LindaJKohn @gmail.com. No space after my name... If you are ok with messaging me, I would really appreciate it.

I have what is probably a dumb question but haven't been able to find the answer elsewhere. Is there a place to see what their pass rate is on the states and national exams- like the NCLEX? Thanks

hi,

Are you talking about the AANP or ANCC? The AANP is 500 up. (from 200-800).

No, I'm sorry if I'm not being clear. I want to know if I can go to a site and see that 98.2% of the 2019 graduates of ABC University passed the exam first time.

Hello,

I am trying to finalize my decision about United States University for attending the FNP program. Does anyone know if they have a bridge program for ADN nurses who have a BA in another field? Does anyone know of any Florida resident that has graduated from the USU FNP program and been able to get their license in Florida. I wanted to make sure that it is safe to enroll being a Florida resident myself and wondering what their experience was like getting licensure in Florida after graduation. Last time I checked I believe they were CCNE credentialed so no issue there. So if anyone can answer these questions, I would greatly appreciate it.

It was fairly easy. You just need to fill out the application and have your transcript sent to them. It took about 2 weeks to receive the acceptance letter.
