Nursing Students NP Students

Hope everyone is doing well. I write this post in the hopes of finding other current students of USU's FNP program; specifically, those that are starting this January as well. I applied and was accepted for the January cohort however, I wanted to hear if others have insight about their program based on personal experience. I'd be so grateful for any input.

Hello, I completed two classes at USU for the MSN FNP program. I had no complaints, the instructors were very responsive and accommodating. The staff was incredibly helpful, the classes were manageable, and the resources were readily available. If I continued to pursue my FNP, I would've completed it at USU, no doubt. However I have transferred since then. I hope this helps!

I would love to be able to connect with someone in this group to see  how it's going at USU. I'm slated to start August 31, but I'm a bit nervous. I'm really interested the success rates of graduates when it comes to passing their boards NP. Of course, I'm also interested in hearing how you like the school, classes, format, etc. Please respond!

Hi! I was nervous too about this school, but thought it was worth a shot. I started in March, and it’s been going well so far. The first year is the easy part, and everyone will tell you that. You wrote a LOT of papers to get you re-familiarized with APA formatting. I have a friend in a DNP program through a traditional university and she’s paying WAY more but she having the same issues we have with online learning. So in my mind, if we are getting the same education, I’m glad I’m paying less. You definitely get out of it what you put into it. It’s mainly self taught with the few exceptions of teachers who want to provide additional content, but I’ve found those are few and far between. When I started, I was told the pass rates for the boards were about 97%, but then some others say it’s closer to 87%, so I don’t know the true numbers on that. However, I do know people that have gone to this school and passed their boards, so it’s possible! I joined a FB group that has been VERY helpful. So far, I’m 3 classes in, and don’t regret it. I’m nervous about finding my own clinicals, but that doesn’t start till next year. Feel free to email me at [email protected] if you want to chat more.

This is a for profit program. Of course it's mainly self taught per the student above.

I will be starting Post master FNP program with USU this month of Oct 26, 2021. I need some feedback how was the workload. I am asking so I can prepare myself. Any graduates from USU?

I am just now seeing this post - I had my nose to the grindstone back in January!  I graduated from USU in August, as well.  As with any online program, whether for profit or not, students have to work hard to learn.  I did very well and graduated with honors, then passed the ANCC FNP boards the first time.  I DO recommend  finding other students who care deeply about succeeding.  I was one of many students with far more experience than most with multiple children and a busy life, and it was nice to have that in common with them.

Like someone else mentioned, it's accredited.  I even looked into a degree at Johns Hopkins (guess what - they have online degrees like so many others!) - one of my first choices.  My husband said he would be supportive - but the cost was just too high.    I looked for a while before deciding.  I asked several respected medical professionals for unbiased opinions and they all said the same thing: the only thing that matters is accreditation.  Work ethic/character/skill/knowledge are the most valuable part of the person graduating.  I was offered my first job by one of my preceptors - I didn't have to search.  Many of my classmates experienced the same.  All of my colleagues (from my connections within our class, at least) have passed their boards, and most already have jobs.

Hi All,

I wanted to check in with you all on how your FNP studies are progressing with USU. I am almost done with my BSN at UTA and looking to transfer to USU for my FNP. Would you recommend USU? Appreciate any feedback you have to share

Hi, I'm sorry but I did not go with USU. I ended up going with Chamberlain. I'm currently not enrolled at the time but will pick back up after I work a year on the MS floor.
