Unit and Medical Secretary Work

Published

Howdy AllNurses group,

I'm not a nurse (yet), but I am in the market looking for work as either a unit secretary on a hospital or as check-in clerk or receptionist as a doctor's office.

I would like to know what tips, techniques, tools, resume wording and anything else that you know of to help me with getting work.

I do have my BLS certification card, can type 60 wpm, have excellent computer knowledge, and a hard-worker. Do you know where a person can get the medical terminology classes online that some hospitals need to hire on?

My ideal hospital/doctor's office would be in the Woodlands or Conroe, Texas but I have no problems commuting down to areas like the Texas Med Center, West Houston, Brenham & Bryan/College Station, Texas.

I have worked in healthcare an office assistant at a home health agency for 13 months between 2009-2010 doing various tasks including secheduling the nurses for patients, doing doctor's order for recerts, following patient hospitalizations, etc,

I want to get back in as I have been sick and appreciate the hard work that nurse did when I was sick, I am fully back to normal.

Please reply or call or text me at 936-264-6336

Thanks so much for reading, and Have a great day!

Strongly advise you to remove your personal contact information ASAP!!! Very unwise to post this information on any social networking site.

If you do a simple Google search for online medical terminology, there are a zillion options out there. Also check out Lone Star College.. they have ongoing med terminology classes.

My community college had a medical terminology course I took over the summer. It was very helpful and the best part of the class was the crosswords we did.

I am still looking for work, How do I edit the post to remove my phone number in my post, and where did you get your medical terminology?

I would PM a staff member since you look like you're new.

Mine was at my local community college. I don't want to give the location/name because it's too near where I live. Most community colleges have medical terminology classes although it is usually under medical assisting. Ours was under the medical office management which is not affiliated with the MA diploma.
