UNF Traditional BSN Fall 2010-2011!

Published

Hi! Anyone else applying to UNF's traditional program this fall? TEAS scores? GPA?

UNF is my first choice - I just got into UCF's program, but I have to make a decision by April 15!

Good luck today everyone!!!! :)

I applied at UNF and got an interview (115 applicants out of 550) and I just got a rejection letter. My husband is stymied because I have a 4.0 GPA, but apparently they didn't like me at all. I interviewed in a room with 5 other people and thought we all did well so it isn't like I interviewed alone and didn't have others to compare myself to. It's really disappointing because I am very committed to being a nurse and I am very caring and easy to get along with. The average GPA of an interviewee they said was 3.7 so clearly they weight other criteria very heavily other than GPA if they want to. I'm sure I will get into a merit-based only program though, thank goodness. Good luck in your pursuits.

I'm sorry!!! It was very competitive. I got my letter today and was weight listed and one of the other girls with me got a rejection letter as well. I thought she was phenomenal. I don't understand how they determined our scores in the interview. Good luck to you.

Thanks. I think they can just rate you really low for the interview if you are not one of the people they think they want so that your GPA won't get you in. I'm not sure how else to interpret it. Good luck on getting in--keep you phone on; remember they said they go down the list, and if you don't answer they go to the next person immediately.

Best of luck to you. I have not received my letter yet. I guess I will find out tomorrow. Like you, everyone in my group presented themselves well and seemed very qualified. Were any of you from UNF? I imagine they would be more likely to reward those who have already attended the university for 2 years. That number could be rather large. I am not from UNF and am really feeling nervous about tomorrow's mail. I thought only 96 students received interviews. Are you counting the accelerated group?

What are your plans for school now? Of course it's too late for fall. What state schools still have spring admission open? I don't think any do. LGB2010, you obviously have what it takes. You will do well.

I heard they interviewed 115, but I may be wrong--96 may be correct. I have taken all of my classes at FSCJ and am on track to get my AA by August, which was one of their criterion. I applied to FSCJ's program as well which is supposed to be based on grades with experience getting some extra points. I should get into that program for the fall, but I hear they don't notify people that they are accepted until a couple of weeks before the classes begin.

Thanks for the kind words. I hope you find you are accepted in your letter tomorrow. :)

I just completed my AA. I thought FSCJ's nursing program required that you already are employed as RN. That's what I keep running into. I really don't want to backtrack and get my ADN and RN then do online classes. Correct me if I am wrong about the FSCJ degree.

Yes, for the BSN you have to have worked 2000 hours or something like that. So if I go to FSCJ, I will have to get my Associates degree and then work 2000 hours and go back and get my bachelors. Luckily it shouldn't take that much more time than doing the straight through UNF program--I think the difference in time is something like 4 months if I work full time after I get my Associates.

Good luck. :)

Fortunately for me, I had a successful visit to the mailbox today. I was accepted into the program; very excited and very humbled. I have no way of knowing who in my group was also accepted. Everyone was deserving.

I will be deciding on living quarters in the next few weeks. Does anyone have suggestions? The majority of my day at home will be studying and working out.

I'm in the same boat LGB2010...3.93 GPA, 370 points on the TEAS...I must have scored really low in the interview, because I didn't even make the wait list either :-/ I thought I did pretty decent though! I'm so bummed, I've been working so hard for this, and I want it so badly! Hoping for FSCJ now...

ESAYAS, don't worry too much. I'm sure you'll get into FSCJ and there are some pros to this program compared to the UNF program from what I've read on this site. UNF apparently stresses a lot of paperwork and ethics classes and writing APA papers and such and I've heard it said that FSCJ is more hands-on with the nursing skills. Plus you can start working earlier and have your bachelors degree paid for or at least contributed to by your place of work. Just have to re-apply for the bachelors. I hope to go to UNF in the future for a masters, but for now I just have to look at the bright side. With your GPA you should be good to go for FSCJ and so should I (we hope!) so maybe we'll see each other there. :)

Thanks for that :-) You're right, that definitely is a plus. If I don't get in for the Fall, I will just reapply for the spring! Good luck!
