  1. Fortunately for me, I had a successful visit to the mailbox today. I was accepted into the program; very excited and very humbled. I have no way of knowing who in my group was also accepted. Everyone was deserving. I will be deciding on living quarters in the next few weeks. Does anyone have suggestions? The majority of my day at home will be studying and working out.
  2. I just completed my AA. I thought FSCJ's nursing program required that you already are employed as RN. That's what I keep running into. I really don't want to backtrack and get my ADN and RN then do online classes. Correct me if I am wrong about the FSCJ degree.
  3. Best of luck to you. I have not received my letter yet. I guess I will find out tomorrow. Like you, everyone in my group presented themselves well and seemed very qualified. Were any of you from UNF? I imagine they would be more likely to reward those who have already attended the university for 2 years. That number could be rather large. I am not from UNF and am really feeling nervous about tomorrow's mail. I thought only 96 students received interviews. Are you counting the accelerated group? What are your plans for school now? Of course it's too late for fall. What state schools still have spring admission open? I don't think any do. LGB2010, you obviously have what it takes. You will do well.
  4. The curriculum shown on the conconcurrent web page ranges from 7 to 13 hours per semester for 7 semesters, as I recall. Do many students have part time jobs? With your GPA and TEAS, why did you choose go concurrent instead of UCF? Having finished my AA, as you have also, I am not too excited about 72 hours and 7 semesters unless there is a positive aspect I am missing. Being a transfer student, it appears from other comments that I would not have a chance at UCF acceptance. Therefore, I am including SSC in my applications. Spring applicants will attend Daytona or Cocoa. Do you know any differences in the two schools? Thank you for taking time to answer these inquiries.
  5. Congratulations to all of you who have been accepted! I am applying for the concurrent program for spring 2011. Have not attended the info session so I am in the dark about some of your comments. I am just completing my last class for my AA (chem and lab). My current GPA is 3.58 and I have 88 on the TEAS. What do you think my chances are for the concurrent program? When you say you were accepted into the SCC program, is this the AS degree vs the BSN from concurrent? What are the "catagories" you are referring to? Do you happen to know any stats on the UCF program? I have applied there also. Thanks for any info you can offer.
  6. Great post! I am feeling much better and feel confident that my passion to become a nurse and my personal attributes to be a successful professional in this field will be evident. I still have some homework to do because I have limited "real life" experience. Thinking positively: I will look for housing after the interview. Any ideas on best locations and specific complexes? Do you have recommendations avenues to find a nice place? Local ads, Rental management? I am guessing that it is beneficial to room with other nursing students in your program. What is your feeling about this?
  7. Thanks APES...I tried to locate the article but was only able to find the abstract you sent. Back to what you extracted from it: Interview 50%, then TEAS, then GPA and Residency. So, the TEAS is more important than the GPA? Does residency refer to state of Florida? I have about a 3.6 GPA and 87 on the TEAS. I heard somewhere that the science portion was rated more heavily. Who knows? It was also an 87. Judging from the interview acceptance letter, I would guess I am close to the middle of the pack (not including accelerated track). Regardless, I don't have access to mock interview opportunities like UNF offers, so I am basically gathering my thoughts and will have some level of practice with my friends or family. I appreciate your words of encouragement.
  8. IVHGATOR, I have my interview the end of this month for fall 2010 admissions. Nervous...YES. Anything you can offer to calm the nerves will be appreciated. Also, your comment about the interview counting 50% TEAS GPA etc, where did you get that information? What did you mean by residency? Florida resident counts for positive points? How is the program going? I hope I am able to be there in the fall.
  9. Does anyone know how long before letters (ACCEPTANCE) are sent out for spring 2010? What was the timeline for fall? Apparently letters were received about April 1, what was the deadline for BSN applications in the fall? Waiting to get some good news. Best to all of you starting this fall, good luck.
