Hello, anyone apply to the UNF Summer BSN regular track? What is your TEAS and GPA? Does anyone have any interview advice? I'm patiently waiting to hear if I got an interview. Just wondering if anyone was in the same boat. Thanks!
Thanks APES...I tried to locate the article but was only able to find the abstract you sent. Back to what you extracted from it: Interview 50%, then TEAS, then GPA and Residency. So, the TEAS is more important than the GPA? Does residency refer to state of Florida? I have about a 3.6 GPA and 87 on the TEAS. I heard somewhere that the science portion was rated more heavily. Who knows? It was also an 87. Judging from the interview acceptance letter, I would guess I am close to the middle of the pack (not including accelerated track). Regardless, I don't have access to mock interview opportunities like UNF offers, so I am basically gathering my thoughts and will have some level of practice with my friends or family. I appreciate your words of encouragement.
Basically once your at the interview they no longer care about your GPA and TEAS. It's up to your personality to shine through and convince them you know how much hard work nursing is and that you will have to touch poop and blood ect. and that nursing is more than just "helping people". I just made sure I had some prepared answers before I went. Like "What qualities do you think a nurse should possess?", ect. Oh! I also had an ethical question which tested what I would do in a hypothetical situation. Good Luck!!!! But I would stop stressing about GPA and TEAS because now they don't matter. Just make sure you dress professionally and have some one conduct a mock interview with you because it will help calm your nerves! Besides the people in the interview are all so nice:)
Great post! I am feeling much better and feel confident that my passion to become a nurse and my personal attributes to be a successful professional in this field will be evident. I still have some homework to do because I have limited "real life" experience.
Thinking positively: I will look for housing after the interview. Any ideas on best locations and specific complexes? Do you have recommendations avenues to find a nice place? Local ads, Rental management? I am guessing that it is beneficial to room with other nursing students in your program. What is your feeling about this?
Well I'm married with two little ones, but there are girls in the program that are rooming together and it seems to be working for them. Besides, I would love to have someone who lives under the same roof who is going through what I'm going through. You would always have someone to quiz you and to study with. There are nice apartments across from the campus and they are really affordable. The one I'm thinking of are The Flats at Kernan. But there are others, I would just use google maps or something like that or search for apartments around that area, but I live on Southside and it is a really short drive and there are tons of places on southside.

Hi MACW,
Here is a link about the interview process at UNF. This link is for the article abstract, I was able to find the whole article online. It explains the process and what they are looking for. Basically just be yourself and have a good idea of what a nurse really does. I hope this helps! http://www.aornjournal.org/article/S0001-2092(07)00622-9/abstract
