UNF Accelerated BSN Summer 2013

U.S.A. Florida

The deadline to apply for UNF's Accelerated BSN program beginning Spring 2013 will be here before we know it (January 15, 2013), which is why I wanted to go ahead and start this topic now. Many of us are taking the TEAS V soon (if we have not already) and finishing up prerequisites (if needed), so I am sure we all have some questions or information to share with each other.

I was waiting for your update, Julie-congratulations! Hearing that cheers me up a little bit :)

A girl in my group mentioned that JU had just done their interviews, so I'm hoping people who wanted accelerated but got RPL get into accelerated there. Didn't Beth mention they usually end up pulling some from the waitlist in the summer?

It would be cool if she posted the stats for the accelerated/RPL/waitlist/deny like last year just to maybe get a vague idea of where those of us on the waitlist stand.

I hope she does post something so you can have some sort of an idea.

What I remember Beth saying at both the interview and the info session the week before the interviews was that they usually go through MOST of the list. So, that is certainly not a guarantee but definitely a reason to remain hopeful!!

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you

Hello everyone!!! I just found out I got Waitlisted for the regular track!!!! Super excited and extremely hopeful!!! congrats to ask of you on here!!!

Question: does the Waitlist for regular include both cohorts applicants?

Hello everyone!!! I just found out I got Waitlisted for the regular track!!!! Super excited and extremely hopeful!!! congrats to ask of you on here!!!

Question: does the Waitlist for regular include both cohorts applicants?

Works like this:

27 accepted into accelerated.

Now those not accepted go into the pool with the regular track folks. Everyone is ranked by total points [GPA + TEAS + Interview].

the top 45 on that list now are accepting into the regular program regardles of which they applied to.

the next 30 or so are put on a wait list.

if an accelerated person does not accept his/her spot the top accelerated applicant who is now in the regular program is offered that spot and the new vacancy in the regular program is then filled from the wait list.

so if you applied accelerated but get accepted into the regular and turn that spot down you won't then be considered for a vacancy in the accelerated left by someone who declines.

Ha, kind of wordy, but I hope that made sense - :wacky:

Wait listed for me as well (interviewed for ACPL). I wrote admissions an email asking about the wait list and basically if you are on the wait list, it includes both ACPL and RPL applicants. If you are ACPL-eligible and take an RPL seat, then get bumped to ACPL, they pull from the wait list to fill the RPL seat (1st person on the list, regardless of ACPL or RPL). Long story short, if you're wait listed, you are waiting to get into the RPL program and that's it. I'm bummed but keeping my fingers crossed...

I got accepted for the regular program but there's still a chance I can get bumped up to accelerated. Either way I'm just happy to be accepted. For those of you who were accepted, is anyone looking for housing? I'm moving from California and need a roommate.

Congrats to those accepted and I'm sorry for those of you not. Everyone's stats seem really good so I am surprised not everyone is in! (This also makes me nervous for the fall!!)

Can I ask a random question? What did people wear to interview? (Women) suit? Dress? Nice pants/skirt and top?

Thank you Jesus! I got in.

Nosleep - if a position opens for you in the regular track would you take it?

Julie - Congrats on getting in!!! What program will you be in? What interview group were you in? There was a woman in my group (11:30, group 2) who had 5 kids... wondering if it was you.

To answer your question, no I don't think I will take the spot in the RPN program if I'm called up from the waitlist. I know I can get into the program at SJRSC, which would be free with a Workforce scholarship and I would finish at about the same time. I have a friend who already had her BA and graduated from the program at SJRSC and was able to get her BSN by just taking a few classes online and her new employer (hospital) paid for it... so that's my plan B.

Regarding what people wore:

There were lots of people in black suit jackets. I wore black dress pants, blue shirt with a thin black belt & heals (no jacket). I felt good about my clothing choice because I stood out from the crowd... but I didn't get a spot (got waitlisted), so maybe that wasn't a good thing.

I was suprised by the number of inappropriately short skirts, I'm not a prude, I wear short skirts myself from time to time, but I was just suprised that some of the girls were wearing them to this type of interview.

Good luck in the Fall!

I got accepted to the accelerated program. Looking forward to meeting those of you who got in and best of luck to those who got waitlisted.

Thanks! And YIKES to the short skirts!! I don't get that either!!

Hi makay7, I was accepted into the accelerated program... still in shock, I think! How about you?
