Unemployment and Pool position

Published

I work 2 pool positions with in the same system. One making phone calls for surgeries and the other in the clinic. With reduced surgeries, I am getting cut from my position. Do pool positions qualify for unemployment?

I would think so, it's a job. I don't know how many hours you have to work and for how long prior to collecting but you can probably find online, though I would call too as rules are changing with this C19 thing. Also...if you want to work and mashed more money than unemployment I'm sure hospitals are hiring now...

Your benefits are based on the amount of money you make in certain time periods, Melanie, for example, per quarter. The employer actually pays the unemployment benefits, which is one of the good reasons to keep employees working.

I suggest you look up online your state's department of employment services. Since I'm in the process of possibly not returning back to my place of employment, I looked up IDES- Illinois Department of Employment Services-and found specific criteria in qualifying for unemployment benefits.

Good luck to you Melanie, and if you would be so inclined, please let us know how it turns out for you.

What great advice, Elaine!

When I looked up information about unemployment benefit, the website mentioned the actual offices were closed due to the recent concern.
